Item # SHI00JPSH-ME7 Cycling Shoe
Finding that balance between XC lightness and enduro durability is no easy task, but Shimano is more than up to the challenge with the SH-ME7 Cycling Shoes. They give all-mountain and enduro riders a lightweight option with ample protection and traction, without sacrificing responsiveness on the pedals. The SH-ME7 achieves its streamlined fit and consistent power transfer through a synthetic upper and stiff sole, which earns a rating of 8/12 on Shimano's stiffness index.
Defending against trail debris and general wear and tear, Shimano added a reinforced armor panel over the shoe's speed lacing system for more protection, while the speed lacing system itself adapts to a wide range of foot shapes with a secure fit. The ratchet buckle up top further secures an exact fit, and a stretch neoprene collar protects vulnerable ankle bones from errant sticks and rocks. A reinforced heel stabilizer holds your foot in place to ensure you don't lose any power on challenging ascents, while the carbon midsole keeps thing responsive and lightweight. Shimano sought help from one of the grippiest options available for technical terrain by integrating a high-performance Michelin dual-density rubber outsole that offers superior traction with insane durability, stability, and slip resistance.
- Mountain bike shoe with ideal mix of lightness and toughness
- Stiff sole efficiently transfers power
- Neoprene ankle collar deflects errant debris
- Grippy rubber outsole for hike-a-bike sections
- Perforated synthetic upper comfortably ventilates
- Speed lace and top buckle strap for highly adjustable fit

Best shoe I've owned
Plenty stiff enough, comfortable as slippers. I have owned othr Shimano, Lake, Sidi, Specialized-none of them were as nice.
Amazing Shoe
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
Stiff in all the right places, walks amazing, comfortable toe box. These shoes are perfect! The sizing does run a tad large. I'm a 10.5 street shoe and bought a 44.
Shimano replaced faulty version 1.5
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
UPDATE- The version I had of this shoe was a limited version 1.5. I contacted Shimano who said there were issues. They replaced them with brand new version and the problem is gone. Shimano has the BEST service I've encountered for end customers. They also replaced on prior occasion some pedals which had an issue. I'm very impressed with Shimano service.
This was my 2nd pair of this shoe. Shimano changed the design on this version for the worst. The area under the cleat creates an intensely painful hotspot. Unfortunately, Backcountry can't do anything past 30 days use. For something as important long-ride, long-term comfort as shoes, you'd be safer buying from REI as their satisfaction policy doesn't have a time limit. Sorry BC, love you guys but I'm not happy with your policy on this one.
Solid!
- Familiarity: I've used it several times
Super comfortable shoe — wide in the toe box if you have baby bunions like me! Great power and feel. Good traction when walking. Shimano shoes are always a solid choice.
Excellent, runs big
- Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
- Fit: Runs large
I've ridden these hard for 4 months. I first bought a pair of 46s, returned them and got a 45.5 which worked well with a medium thick Sole insole. However, I still felt I could go down to a 45 so I bought a second pair and use them with a thinner insole. I'm an 11.5 so should be a 46, but these shoes are very deep and average width. I love these shoes! Very walkable, stiff but not too stiff, great traction, cleat channel allows for very aft placement. They are made of very tough, rubber like material but have excellent ventilation. I do wish they would have used a little more soft/flexible materials on the lateral aspect of the toe box for when your toes push out on that area. The quick lace system and strap work well, but in the mid foot between them, I could use and additional strap for better tension. The lace cover is kinda pointless (though it works well) and covers up the tongue ventilation. I'm cutting it out off my 45s and leaving it on my 45.5s which I'll use more in the winter. These are really comfortable shoes and suited for everything from bike park to trail.
nice shoe but lycra oversock sucks
- Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
- Fit: Runs large
- Size Bought: 44
i really wanted to like this shoe. i own a pair of shimano sphyre xc9s and theyre the best shoes ive ever owned. i was hoping the same for these. the shoe looks great and the soles look super rugged and perfect for trail riding and hiking terrain that cant be ridden. problem is that the lycra oversock has bulky seams on the inside that dig into your ankles. i really wanted to like them and even tried just wearing them around the office on carpet but the seams kept digging in my ankles. decided to return them. now im on the hunt for another pair of mtb trail shoes with decent soles for hike a bike moments
IMHO the cuff around the ankle is great. Keeps out rocks and I don't notice it at all.
