Enjoy the ritual.

Spending a summer afternoon in the garage changing your brake cables and recharging your hydraulic fluid after a long ride can be an enjoyable maintenance ritual. Preparing your garage for when the occasion arises is easy with a spare set of cables and Shimano's Hydraulic Mineral Oil for Disc Brakes. The hydraulic mineral oil will refresh your Shimano brakes if your fluid becomes contaminated, and it comes with enough to use for multiple bikes, if needed.

Go with the 1L

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

After buying about 4 of the smaller bottles over the past couple years, I realized it made a lot more sense to pony up and buy the 1L, even though I only do a full bleed every 6-9 months. Definitely a better economical choice, and you don't have to be as stingy with your bleeds as you do with the small bottles. As others have noted, this stuff works well and is the only thing I'd put in my XT brakes. One odd thing, however, is that this bottle was shipped with less than 1000ml in the container: I didn't see any signs of leakeage in the packaging, so am thinking this might be a common issue.

All the mineral oil

Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

Bought the big jug so I always have it handy....mineral oil based brakes are the only choice for me...DOT fluid is not as user friendly.
