Tune your bicycle — electronically.
With the Shimano E-Tube Di2 System Check and Programmer, you have the ability to precisely tune and oversee the way your electronic Shimano drivetrain reacts when you touch the shift levers. The project software downloads directly to your computer, giving you the ability to customize, check, and update your entire groupset.
Shimano designed the system with a straightforward operating procedure. Simply plug specific components of your Di2 group into a computer running the E-Tube software, and then program various features of the drivetrain. For example, you can program the multi-shift, the orientation of the shifters (left can shift rear derailleur if you desire), check for system issues within/between components, as well as update the firmware in your series of components.
Within the multi-shift setting, it's possible to program two or three shifts at a time at five different speed settings. This means that you can create a completely custom shifting experience setup from your personal computer.
The Shimano E-Tube Di2 System Check and Programmer provides you with a user name, password and website address to download the E-Tube Project software. The system works with Di2 6770 and Di2 9070 groupsets.
- Compatible with Di2 6770, 9070 groupsets
- Includes user name, password, and web access to Shimano E-Tube Project software
- Plugs into computer via USB and Di2 drivetrain via shifting port
- Updates firmware, reprograms shifting configurations

Does the job, but seems expensive.
- Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I bricked my front junction box while doing firmware updates with the charger (BCR2). After an error, shifting was dead and E-Tube wouldn't recognize the unit. E-Tube told me go into single connection mode, which then said a SM-PCE1 is required. I ordered one and it arrived next day before some good riding weather. After another hiccup with E-Tube I was able to get the junction box flashed everything working again.
If you have a friend with a programmer, or your LBS will gives you access to one (without having to drop your bike off), you can probably get by without one of these. If you never update your firmware you'll probably never
need one. But if you like to tinker, it's a good thing to have. It's a shame that this functionality isn't included with the included charger.
Not Recommended for Mac users
This was way to complicated to get to run on my mac and in the end the functionality was negatively impacted. If you don't have a PC and have a iPad download the e-tube app and get the Di2 wireless bluetooth transmitter and correct Di2 battery and you will have all the functionality in a portable wireless ped for apprx $70 more.
This is compatible whit my Ultegra Di2?
Group Set Model 6800
That will work with your Ultegra groupset as long as you update it. If you have any more questions you can email me directly Mbentley@backcountry.com
Sweet and simple
Item worked perfect for my needs. Perfect simplicity as with all of Shimano's products. This thing will actually do way more than what I needed it for but I'm looking forward to doing some experimenting once the weather cools off. Just make sure you pick up the extra hookup cable.
Will this also work with the 11 speed 6870 Ultegra Di2 setup? From other websites, it looks like it does. Thank you.
Yes it will! I have Ultegra Di2 on my bike and that's what I use to update the firmware and change the settings for the derailleurs and shifters. Let me know if you have any other questions- email@example.com
I have read that the newer 6870 and 9070 can be updated and controlled with the provided battery charger that uses the front junction box to charge the battery. . You would download the software from Shimano and can do all the same things with your provided cable. Has anyone tried this feature?
Yes, you can update the firmware ONLY using the charger SM-BCR2 that comes along with the newer Di2 6870 via the Shimano E-Tube, you need the SM-PCE1 (which you have to buy separately) to change the setting of the gears and at the same time update firmware.
