F30 Saddle

As one of the newest saddles in the Selle SMP lineup, the F30 Saddle provides the benefits of classic SMP designs with a shape that doesn't have quite the exaggerated drop nose. Even so, it still yields greater comfort in the drops than conventional saddles with plenty of freedom to move about without excessive pressure. Also returning is the patented ergonomic center channel that relieves compression in the perineal and prostate area helping to eliminate tingling and numbness. Additionally, your nerves and vascular regions are protected and the entire area enjoys increased blood flow and better ventilation.

The tail of the saddle receives a kicked up design for maximum pelvic support and better stabilization. This provides a better foundation when putting out the watts and a better position while climbing. Also of note at the rear of the saddle is its slight rear cutout that's there to protect the coccyx.

This particular saddle is covered in leather in the black version and microfiber for the white one. It receives a minimal amount of foamed elastomer padding covering a carbon reinforced nylon shell. The saddle rides on stainless steel AISI 304 rails offering a wide fore/aft range and great shock absorption.

  • A minimally padded saddle focused on riding comfort
  • Stainless steel rails offer a strong, durable design
  • Leather or microfiber cover offers a plush feel
  • Foamed elastomer padding cushions impacts without adding weight
  • The saddle is structured for those with small to large pelvises

Dat new new

I've used it several times

I have a couple of rides under my belt on the new F30 from Selle SMP. So far I am really liking the feel of this saddle. The middle channel does its job well. I am not getting any of the numbness that was associated with other saddles. It doesn't have quite the articulated drop nose as the Drakon, but the F30 still gets the nose out the way enough to not create unwanted pressure points. The slightly flatter nose gives you a slightly better platform to scooch forward on those really steep climbs. Don't be turned off on the stiff feel of the padding when you unbox it. Once you get on a ride the cushion really helps soak up vibrations and keeps your hips in a correct position for long rides. It took a little bit of time and small adjustments to get the angle dialed in. I am used to having my saddles pretty much flat, but with the concave shape of the F30 made it felt a little like it was pulling me away from my handlebars so I ended up tilting it forward a few degrees. Overall, I am really happy with this saddle! I think it will be on many of my bikes to come!

the last saddle i want to own

I've put it through the wringer

I'll preface the review with my experience with other Selle SMP saddles, which is to say that I like the concept of their more extreme-looking offerings but they're not really for me. I like to move around on the saddle; forward on the climbs, "steering" the bike just a touch with my legs and butt on descents, and so forth. So while I appreciate the genital and perineal relief of the saddles you're used to seeing, like the Drakon for example, they're not something I want to own. Now, the F30. Selle SMP says that it will work for pretty much anyone, which is not a claim they make for their other saddles. Common issues I experience on other saddles are numbness on climbs due to being seated forward, and on my rollers where I stay seated in one spot, as well as rubbing on the "wing" area on longer rides. None of these issues exist with the F30. Additionally, since the nose doesn't drop too dramatically, I can shift forward on climbs and feel secure in that position. The made-in-Italy build quality of the saddle is excellent. One drawback of the saddle is its cost, but having a beautifull-made saddle that fits and to some degree, improves the quality of my life, is worth it. Generally speaking, I hesitate to recommend any saddle because I know everyone is different, but this saddle is different. If you've had issues finding the right saddle, or even if you haven't, I would invite anyone to try this one. And if I'm wrong and it doesn't work, you can return a used item here within 30 days for store credit. If you're the kind of person who would buy this saddle, you can surely use that store credit on something, if not a different saddle. All in all, I highly recommend this saddle. I never had a saddle that worked all that well for me before, but I would refer to rule 5 and carry on. You don't have to suck it up, and shouldn't. For me the F30 has made this possible.
