Blaster Saddle

Trails have a whole new slew of demands over riding on the tarmac, and Selle SMP takes those needs seriously with its Blaster Saddle. At first glance it may share some of its aesthetics from Selle's road line, like the wide, cutout channel, but it's constructed with the rigors of mountain biking in mind, with a durable nylon-carbon composite shell that offers stiffness, with just enough flex, to transcend disciplines from from singletrack to pavement, and everything in between.

Like the all-rounder Stratos and Dynamic, the Blaster is best suited for cyclists with average-width pelvises, as it features a moderate profile and a fairly minimal amount of padding. At the nose, there's the characteristic "beak" shape designed to provide a flat base while sitting that minimizes pressure. Down the center, SMP's pronounced central channel further reduces pressure on the pudendal nerve and surrounding soft tissue. The back of the saddle is raised for an enhanced seated pedaling position, where body weight is divided between the rear and lower part of the ischial tuberosity region. This shape also helps reduce overall pressure on the coccyx while riding over rough surfaces.

  • A durable saddle to transcend disciplines from dirt to tarmac
  • Pressure-relieving design elements elevate comfort on the ride
  • Large center cutout reduces pressure on sensitive tissues
  • Shell construction is both light and durable
  • Minimal padding provides support without excess bulk
  • Recommended for cyclists with average-width sit bones

Really Does the Trick

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

This saddle is unbeatable, dangerously comfortable, and endlessly adjustable. it takes some time to dial in the saddle and getting there was not too much of a struggle. Don't forget to bring your tools with you on your ride! I really liked the narrowness that i was missing from most other brands, let alone the simple fact, i am no longer sore. I tested this saddle on my road and mountain bike and will be needing to purchase a second, so I can start riding both bikes again! Say goodbye to soreness, and say hello to your new best friend.

No more soreness!!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

What is that thing? Yes, it may look a little funky, but that won't matter to you after a few rides on this thing. I used to ride with bibs, but after using this saddle on a few rides I have said goodbye to those. Seriously SMP saddles are game changers and your butt will definitely thank you!

These saddles have a ton of adjustability and very easy to mark your positioning with the railings. Feel free to shot me an email if you have any questions on any particular SMP saddles, let's get rid of that soreness!

No more soreness!!

Nothing Better

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The most supportive saddle I have ridden to date. The design of these saddles fit the seat bones for anyone the best that I have seen, has a lot of room for adjustability, and has plenty of room for body position movement on the saddle itself. If you like a supportive saddle for any level of riding you are looking at it.

The search for the perfect saddle is often a long, expensive and uncomfortable journey. Save yourself some time and effort - choose Selle SMP. Yes, their funky looks might dissuade you initially but I assure you it serves a purpose (and no one can see the saddle when you are riding!)

After a few rides tweaking my fit, I don't think I'll ever go back. I put in longer miles more comfortably than any other saddle I have owned or demoed thus far. Having the right chamois helps, but I would posit that using an SMP saddle could mask the discomfort of all but the cheapest bib shorts.

The Blaster was the best choice for my narrow sit bones and preference for minimal padding. However, your needs might be different. Please reach out to me directly if you have questions regarding selecting your SMP saddle or fitting one to your current bike.

my new kryptonite

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I've been an avid SMP saddle user for quite some time. I find them to be the most comfortable saddles I have used to date.

In the SMP line up I can ride a couple of the saddles and depending on the bike is how I choose which one.
Century rides or Trainer = SMP Stratos
Fat Bike = Stratos
Enduro bike = Drakon
Road Bike for crits = Drakon

Now just recently I have been riding the Blaster and really love it, I feel that will be my new saddle for the road bike. The reason I have the Drakon as I wanted a saddle that would allow me to slide up a bit when going on break aways or get over the cranks a little more prepping for that big sprint and the Stratos was not allowing me to do that like I wanted. Now that I have the Blaster I feel that will be the new road saddle and even take over for the mountain bike as well.
