Introducing the Santa Cruz
For years, we were told emphatically that it would never happen, and yet here we are. In releasing the carbon fiber version, Santa Cruz has given us what many riders have long dreamed of--
the ultimate version of the unimpeachable Chameleon.
Since its inception, the Chameleon has been a bike that doesn’t care about labels, boundaries, or preconceptions. It’s a hardtail meant to do it all, and do it surprisingly well. It’s just as happy riding pump tracks or dropping in on your local cross country race series.
It’s a great choice for hammerheads, and perfect for singletrack cruises.
It works beautifully set up with gears or singlespeed, and it practically invites its rider to play with setups, which helps this proven hardtail to feel fresh and exciting season after season.
Naturally, the carbon fiber Chameleon retains all of the impressive character of its namesake. And, being a Santa Cruz, there should be no doubt about its ruggedness, a fact which will be underscored by its lifetime frame warranty.
So if you’ve been looking for a hardtail with an appetite for fun and the sultry looks to match the world’s best super bikes, your search ends here.
Built around a 120mm fork, with the option to bump up to 130mm if you prefer, the Chameleon is quick and precise. It maintains a feeling of mischievous intent that encourages the rider to roll the dice, and it has just enough left in reserve to bail you out should the need arise.
As expected, the tapered head tube allows essentially unrestricted fork choice, while the frame itself is compatible with both 27.5” x 2.8” Plus tires, or 29” x 2.5” tires, through the use of swappable dropouts, for those preferring a more traditional option.
Boost hub spacing ensures compatibility with the latest wheels. And the replaceable dropouts offer adjustability for chainstay length, allowing riders to fine tune their geometry, and making for painless singlespeed conversion.
