Why We Like The Santa Cruz Tallboy Carbon C S Mountain Bike

Santa Cruz like to think of the Tallboy as a gravity rider's XC bike, and that resonates with us because this short-travel trail bike punches well above its weight class and absolutes shreds on technical terrain. The Tallboy's lightweight carbon chassis and efficient VPP suspension make it a great bike for racking up big mileage in the mountains, and when the trail points downhill the progressive geometry keeps us planted, stable, and smiling as we ride harder than we thought possible on a shorter travel bike.

The frame on the Tallboy Carbon S build uses Santa Cruz's Carbon C construction, which rides just like their top-tier CC carbon but with a minor weight penalty. The carbon layup process remains similar, just with a different carbon modulus that's a bit more budget-friendly, which is why we're able to score the Carbon C at a more modest asking price. The componentry on this S kit is filled with workhorse parts that perform great on the trail and have us feeling confident in their durability, namely the GX Eagle drivetrain, FOX Performance suspension, and Race Face wheels with DT Swiss hubs.

*Due to unprecedented demand in the global supply chain and the bike industry over the last 18 months, material weight and exact components are subject to change. We are working diligently to keep tech specs updated, and any adjustments will be minor. If you have any questions, reach out to a Gearhead by chatting online or calling 1-888-276-7130.
