The Nomad Carbon R Mountain Bike is the ultimate enduro and freeride bike for the rider who wants to ride everything from big-mountain trails to bike parks with an emphasis on the downhill. The V6 Nomad hangs onto its freeride roots with a 27.5in rear wheel, yet delivers a more capable on-trail feel with a 29in front wheel that rolls over everything from rock steps to angled roots with ease. 170mm of VPP-powered rear suspension is ready for big drops and chundery trails, plus Santa Cruz updated the leverage curve with lower anti-squat to limit harshness from square-edge impacts. We’re pretty stoked about the new Glovebox storage compartment under the water bottle cage, which lets us stash a snack or spare layer along with the included Tool Wallet and Tube Purse. The head tube angle is stretched out so an ultra-slack 63.5 degrees (low position) for added stability in rowdy terrain, while a steep 77.6-degree seat tube angle (low position, size large) ensures an efficient pedaling platform.

Santa Cruz kicks things off on this value-oriented build with their Carbon C frame construction, and they now utilize size-specific stiffness standards to ensure an equal ride feel across all sizes. Standout features include the 170mm travel RockShox Zeb R fork which we appreciate for its burly 38mm stanchions that deliver exceptional torsional strength for added stability. SRAM’s NX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain delivers exceptional value and shifting qualities, plus it's cross-compatible with all Eagle drivetrain components. Race Face AR Offset 30 wheels are among our favorite value-focused alloy wheels for their rugged durability. This Nomad build is a worthy addition to a trail or XC bike as a dedicated downhill brawler within a well-rounded quiver, and it also holds up as a downhill-oriented quiver of one for hitting the park and sending it on trail rides.
