Race Pant

By incorporating feedback from Royal Racing's pro athletes, the Men's Race Pant is designed to meet the needs of a modern racer. 4-way stretch rip-stop construction ensures maximum freedom of movement, and reacts by stretching rather than tearing during a crash, saving your skin and improving the pant's durability. The Race Pants are DWR-treated to shed mud and water during spring and fall conditions, and feature a raised rear panel and stretch yoke for a stable and comfortable fit. Two zippered pockets store snacks or small tools, and the waistband features a simple ratchet closure that allows easy one-handed adjustment.

  • No-nonsense pants for downhill and enduro racing
  • 4-way stretch material for optimal mobility
  • Rip-stop construction resists abrasion and tearing
  • DWR treatment sheds mud and water on the trail
  • Raised rear panel and stretch yoke for comfort
  • Laser-perforated vents ensure breathability
  • Two zippered pockets for small-item storage

Cons: - Royal's sizing chart is *way* off and cut of pant is less than ideal: pants pucker at knee and catch quite a bit of wind due to baggy design - heavy face fabric w/ mediocre stretch also breathes poorly in spite of laser perforation: *not* for hot climates! - lack of stretch at waist & rigid zipper at fly forces you to buy bigger, baggier size and cinch down w/ ratchet buckle. - legs are cut wider than competing designs w/ stretchier fabrics, but pants still hard to pull on and off due to lack of stretch at ankle. I am a true 33 waist, so I ordered a Medium, but couldn't even zip up the fly all the way due to rigid waistband & zipper combo. This is a massive fail: the competition has figured out that if you use a ratchet buckle (or even a snap), you *do not need* a zippered fly, you simply add a fabric baffle, so the ratchet can do its job of getting waist exactly as tight or loose as needed. Ordered the Large, which I could actually zip up and also offered better length of coverage all the way to ankle-bone when on the bike. Took a back to back test-spins around neighborhood vs my size 32 Fox Defend Kevlar pants: Royal's pants lost on all meaningful fronts: they breathed worse, flapped in the wind more, and stretched less.

waist sizing wrong

Waist was too small, I have purchased Royal Racing Shorts, and they were spot on... Even compared the pant to the shorts, physically compared the two.. wasn't an ordering error. The product appeared to be of great quality, inseam was just what I needed, bummer just didn't work out...

What do these pants weigh in size Medium? How well do they pedal and breathe for trail riding in warmer conditions?
