Uno Hydraulic Disc Shift/Brake Kit

Pushing to the front of the peloton isn't done by blending in with the crowd. It's done by differentiating yourself from the others with more rigorous training, serious dedication, and a whole new level of commitment to the ride. But with the Rotor UNO Hydraulic Disc Shift/Brake Kit it doesn't need to stop there, you can carry on setting yourself apart from your rivals with a fully hydraulic groupset to add unimaginable smoothness to your shifting, and brake with better modulation while you ride into the headwind, and push up steeper climbs to earn your place on the podium — all at the lightest weight possible from any current hydraulic groupset.

Much like your training regimen, Rotor aims to define its performance through differentiating its self from the others, which is what led to the development of the first hydraulic groupset. Integrating hydraulic technology from disc brakes into the drivetrain, Rotor's engineers were able to craft shifters that give you the power of efficiency and tactile command, with smoothness that was previously never seen in shifters. Hydraulics don't only lend themselves to smoothness though, they also have the ability to reduce maintenance, with no cable stretch over time or pressure, and only one bleed necessary every year, which can be easily performed with the two included kits.

Shifting on the UNO should feel buttery smooth, but may take a moment to get used to as Rotor situates all indexing in the derailleurs, instead of shifters. Shifting is done with a double-tap style actuation, and is capable of shifting a full 4 gears at a time. Since your shift doesn't involve cable pull it won't give the same feedback that a mechanical system gives you, instead feeling buttery smooth, with no drag as it shifts positively through the cassette in a quick and decisive manner. Defined indexing helps with the feel when you need to shift under load, keeping things precise and reducing the possibility of missed, or accidental half-shifts. The rear derailleur also features an easy-access switch that drops you to the lowest sprocket that enables quick and easy wheel swaps.

Its no surprise with Rotor that details aren't taken lightly, so they've engineered a comically light cassette to go along with the groupset. With incredibly meticulous machining, the UNO Cassette features steel smaller cogs that are machined as one piece together, shaving off internal material, and runs with two large aluminum cogs. This enables the cassette to weigh in at just 149-grams for the 11 - 28t model — lighter than any cassette from the Big Three road component manufacturers, and boost its compatibility to run on 10-speed Shimano freehubs that may have had issues fitting a whopping 11-speed cassette previously. The cassette is shaped, milled, and polished at Rotor's Spanish headquarters, and treated with a friction-reducing finish before making its way into this groupset.

Taking braking seriously, the Spanish engineers at Rotor decided to pair up with Magura's German ingenuity to find ideal modulation and power. Magura's years of experience shine through with its MT8 calipers used with UNO, providing reliability and stopping power that you can trust. Rotor recommends pairing the calipers with a 160-millimeter rotor, which may seem a bit beefy for your road setup, but is sure to offer you ideal cooling and modulation when you're bombing down steep canyons with sharp bends. Keeping things simple, Rotor not only uses Magura's Royal Blood for the braking system, but for the shifting system as well, making it easier to keep things bled and running flawlessly, without the need to purchase obscure additional oils for the system.
