When every last gram is subject to scrutiny, outfit your cross-country race bike with the ultra-lightweight chassis of the RockShox SID World Cup 29 Charger DebonAir 100 Boost Fork for a competitive edge. Designed to save weight at all costs, the SID World Cup is one of the lightest forks on the market, thanks to its 32-millimeter stanchions, carbon fiber crown and steerer, plus knocked-out magnesium dropouts. In this particular 29-inch model with Boost axle spacing and 100 millimeters of travel, RockShox claims the SID World Cup tips the scales at a paltry 1537 grams or approximately 3.39 pounds.
However, even though it's designed to save weight in the name of go-fast efficiency, RockShox didn't skimp out on adjustability or support over small bumps and mid-sized hits, thanks to the additions of a Charger 2 damper, DebonAir spring, and factory tuned Dig Valve. You'll find you can quickly switch between wide open and fully locked out, as well as dial-in the low-speed compression to your particular racing needs. The Charger 2 damper is now compatible with RockShox's OneLoc remote and TwistLoc grip-style lockout (both sold separately), in case you need to sprint towards the finish line or hammer up a smooth climb without having to reach down and flick the fork's adjustment knob into the fully locked position.
DebonAir is one of the best additions to the 2018 model SID World Cup, seeing it increases the negative air spring volume for better compliance over small bumps and higher levels of traction when you're muscling up climbs laden with momentum-stopping rocks and roots. The addition of DebonAir really makes it feel plusher off the top and more sensitive to trail imperfections, but without sacrificing support as you push deeper into the travel, due to the Dig Valve providing just the right amount of control over the fork's mid-stroke support and ability to properly absorb impacts.
If you'd like to add a bit of progressiveness to the end stroke ramp-up, you can always toss in a few Bottomless Tokens (sold separately) to prevent it from bottoming out or blowing through excessive travel on those bigger hits. Although this particular SID World Cup comes in Boost spacing for a stiffer, more precise feel of your front wheel as it's plunging into rocks and roots, SRAM's Torque Caps (sold separately) allow you to add even greater stiffness of the front wheel by increasing the surface area between hub and fork dropout.
