This elite new dropper skips the cables, opting for electronic actuation that wirelessly communicates between a sleek button at your cockpit and your dropper post for a setup free of hoses, routing, and wasted energy. All of this has been enabled by SRAM's AXS technology that brings a new level of interaction, personalization, and connectivity to your steed.

Chances are, if you follow competitive mountain biking, you've spotted the new Reverb AXS along with SRAM's AXS mountain bike drivetrain across podiums and steeds of your favorite riders. It isn't technology that SRAM tried too hard to keep under the wraps, and we speculated as to just how it works, and now with its release to the market we're able to see the whole picture and understand just how integrated RockShox's new dropper partners in with SRAM. With new AXS technology that starts up front in the cockpit with the Reverb AXS button. This small and compact piece keeps things tidy as it sits next to your brake on the left, and communicates through SRAM's own wireless connection to the dropper post, offering quick actuation with significantly less effort than the levers of the past. The wireless network is easy to sync up, and also communicates with your smart phone so you can fine tune settings using the AXS mobile app.

The post itself is smoother to move than previous generations, requires less downward pressure to drop, and can be stopped in any number of positions between its base and highest reach. It uses a new lower-friction IFP that allows for faster actuation of the post, preventing sluggish rebound when you need your saddle at full-mast for punchy pedal fests at the bottom of a descent. The post also features new Vent Valve technology that enables super simple servicing. While RockShox builds the post to be resilient to rigorous use, there's no debating that sometimes things just don't go as planned, and being able to perform quick-fixes is a must — especially on a dropper post that rings in on the high-side of triple-digits. Vent Valve technology is a fail-safe put in place that we hope you never have to use, but enables you to service the post in the event that oil and air mix, without disassembling the post all together — all that's required is that you depress the valve, compress the post, and you're good to go. Air will channel back into the air chamber, leaving the oil where it belongs.

A critical question when diving into the electronic world is battery life. All day rides packed with steep climbs and wily descents won't drain your battery, as it can handle up to 40-hours of trail use, but in the event that you've got a multi-day bikepacking epic in front of you, you can toss a spare battery or two into your pack for adding more juice after a few days of riding. The battery is small, recharges in under an hour, and can be used on both the seatpost and SRAM's AXS drivetrain, so you can prioritize power when you're running low and still have a few miles to make it back to civilization. On the handlebar side of things the shifter takes a small coincell battery that's designed to work for years without issue.

    I picked up a reverb AXS to go with my AXS drivetrain, partially to see what all the buzz was about and partially to have a spare battery to swap over to the rear derailleur just in case I forget to charge it and it dies mid-ride. My experience with earlier gen Reverbs were pretty much like everyone else... It worked great for a while and then never really worked ever again after a few months. I'm at about 6 months on my Reverb AXS and can say that I believe it is the best dropper post on the market in terms of operation, and have had zero reliability issues so far. Just as something like a PNW or Wolftooth lever is a big upgrade to a cable post, the wireless actuation of the Reverb AXS makes it utterly effortless. I find myself using my dropper a lot more than I ever did before thanks to how easy it is to actuate. If you get to try one of these, you'll start to notice how much time you spend depressing the lever of your cabled post and waiting for it to trigger and actuate. The main downside, which I'm sure you've already seen, is that this post is expensive. Twice the price of Fox Transfer, expensive. That being said, if Rockshox really does have their reliability figured out (and it seems like it), this is a premium investment that will set you back but be worth it in the trail experience.

    Awesome dropper!

    Bought this along with all the parts to build up a new Ibis Ripley. I already had the Eagle AXS derailleur and shifter on my last bike and it’s a nice step up from the regular Eagle stuff. The dropper is much better than the previous dropper I had which was a Fox Transfer. So precise , quick and consistent. Expensive and not the lightest but by far the best dropper I’ve ever used.
