Extreme Lube is the most viscous of Rock 'n' Roll's lube formulations. It's for the nastiest, gnarliest, wettest, and muckiest conditions. Extreme Lube has a gel membrane suspended in the fluid. The membrane seeps deep into the rollers of each pivot, keeping the chain joints flexing, moving smoothly, shifting crisply, and doing everything quietly.

Rock 'n' Roll lube cleans and lubes at the same time. Dribble it on by putting the bike in its biggest gear and backpedal. Drip from the top over the chainring or cog. Wipe off the excess. Shift to the small ring in front to wipe off the big ring. Wipe till the chain shines. You can ride right away, but letting the excess evaporate for a few hours or overnight is best. And, despite the fact that this is Rock 'n' Roll's wettest lube, it's still drier and cleaner than much of what's available on the market. Rock 'n' Roll recommends not re-lubing until you hear squeaking. If you have more than one Rock 'n' Roll lube in your tool chest, you can put on the thicker formulations when it's wet and then apply the thinner when its dry and you don't have to degrease in between.

Rock 'n' Roll Extreme Lube comes in a 16oz. bottle and should last you for several seasons.

Rock N Roll Lubes Rule!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have all three Rock N Roll chain lubes at the ready. The dry lube works great for road bikes and MTBs here in dusty UT. For longer rides 50 miles, I generally opt for the gold. And for endurance events and wetter conditions, I go with the blue extreme. All of them are top quality and they all serve different purposes.

My Go-To Lube for Years

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

First off, the entire Rock n Roll lube line is the best in the business. From the red to the blue, they're all awesome. I used to use a greasy oily lube which worked well for a couple hundred road miles, but my drivetrain always looked BLACK along with my chainstay and everything else I may have come close to touching. When I started mountain biking, a friend recommended rock n roll and I've never looked back. It does the lubrication job as well as the other heavier lubes but most importantly, CLEANS when you use it! My drivetrain is well taken care of and now it even looks like it. Shiny and clean, I love it! The blue will start to build up around the pulleys so you'll need to clean those every now and then but if that's not your cup of tea, the gold doesn't buildup at all. I now even use the red for my road bike. Whatever you're into, this a great lube that keeps all your drivetrain components happy.

great all around lube

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

living in the PNW, I've had a difficult time finding a lube to be a little longer lasting than 1 ride. Rock N Roll Extreme fits that build. The application took some getting used to, but when properly used, this stuff lasts...even in the muck!

The Rick Derringer of Lubes

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

This is the business for most conditions. I believe it to work best when applied the night before a ride, as it has time to tack up and stay on the chain and not attract too much dirt. A bit more viscous than some other brands, but it applies well. The package includes an extra applicator bottle and multiple nozzles. Shake well before use, open up and enjoy. It also gets a B+ on the Robert Smallman taste test.

Cleans and lubes well!

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Just tried this for the first time in super dusty conditions. It worked great, quickly cleans your chain and kept my drive train running quiet in some pretty nasty dusty/sandy conditions.

In the past I've been partial to Progold Extreme but I'm pretty sold on the Rock N Roll Extreme now. I highly recommend this. It's very resistant to picking up contaminants and it kept my chain looking clean.

Clean Chain

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I live in Utah where it is dry and dusty. Needless to say, this stuff fits and works great for dry conditions. The best part is, you won't need to clean your chain because this lube does not pick up dust.

If you have any questions on this product, I will be happy to help you out. I am usually in the office Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday 11:30am-9:30pm you can request me on by phone (1.888.276.7130 ext. 4646) during those hours. You can also send me an email @ at any time.

Best all purpose lube so far

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I tend to use blue in spring and fall and winter and pull out the gold for summer. Red for my shorter rides when dry. All rock n roll lubes work incredibly well. Never turns thick and black. Only lube that comes close but difficult to find is "absolute best lube" but it doesn't clean your chain like rock n roll

Good so far

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Used both on Mt. and Road bike. Used pedro and white lighting and this stuff is similar to the white lighting. Does not gunk up like pedro's. Like they say it cleans and lubricates. Pretty soupy so have a rag under while applying. Have not used in a muddy environment yet. Good for the price!

This bottle should last a while.

I've used Pedros and White Lightning in the past. Rock N Roll Extreme is better than both. I bought a smaller bottle of it last Summer and will probably refill it from this one so I can have a more portable supply.

    Great for my mtn bike!

Like Dominick stated, this is great stuff. I like the smaller bottle to use for application of the Extreme Lube. When I got the large bottle, I had to shake it up for a minute to mix it together which was a little different for me. I too am a Park City based mtn biker, lots of dusty trails on the cross-country trails I seek so this stuff is ideal. Nothing like having well lubed equipment for excellent performance.

Go-to choice for mountain chain lube

      • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I *love* Rock n' Roll lube.

It lubricates really well (although perhaps not absolutely as little friction as the best conventional lubes) but it lasts and lasts, and keeps your chain nice and clean. I ride mostly in dusty conditions, and find that the regular wet, oily lubes are like a magnet for dirt.

I've tried other waxy lubes (Pedro's Ice Wax and White Lightening) and think this is way better. Pedros seems just to turn into sticky gunk, and the White Lightening interacts horribly with other lubes.

The blue, "extreme" version of Rock n' Roll is intended for mountain biking in nasty, muddy conditions. But I've found it works well in all conditions. So unless you a a major bike geek, and keep a library of lubes for different days, this should be your go-to choice.

It comes in a giant 16oz bottle, along with a much smaller (empty) bottle with a drip nozzle, so you can decant some into the more convenient size.
