The Absolute Dry from Rock 'n' Roll is their driest lube. It goes on thin, which means it penetrates deep into the rollers of the chain and picks up the least dirt. But, because it is so thin, it will probably be the one that needs re-application with the greatest frequency. The guys from Rock 'n' Roll tell us that this lube can usually go 125 miles or so between lubings. Frequent, yes, but the flip side is that the chain stays cleaner. And as you know, a clean chain lasts longer than a dirty chain. Rock 'n' Roll says they routinely get 8,000 miles on a single chain when using the Absolute Dry.

Rock 'n' Roll lube cleans and lubes at the same time. Dribble it on by putting the bike in its biggest gear and backpedal. Drip from the top over the chainring or cog. Wipe off the excess. Shift to the small ring in front to wipe off the big ring. Wipe till the chain shines. You can ride right away, but letting the excess evaporate for a few hours or overnight is best. Rock 'n' Roll recommends not re-lubing until you hear squeaking. If you have more than one Rock 'n' Roll lube in your tool chest, you can put on the thicker formulations when it's wet and then apply the thinner when its dry and you don't have to degrease in between.

Rock 'n' Roll Absolute Dry Lube comes in a 4oz. bottle and should last you for one season.

Chain stays cleaner!

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have been using the Rock N Roll Gold lube for several years with great success, and I saw the Absolute Dry lube on sale, so I decided to try it. It seems to have a shorter life then the Gold as it says on the label, but you chain stays much cleaner as it does not attract as much dust as any other lube I have tried (not including wax, which has its own issues). I lube my chair every ride and I feel that this Absolute Dry lube is easily good for 60-80 miles. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite lubes.

This is my go to all summer. Long lasting and clean for Gran Fondos.

Rock N Roll Lubes are my go to

  • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have all three Rock N Roll chain lubes at the ready. The dry lube works great for road bikes and MTBs here in dusty UT. For longer rides 50 miles, I generally opt for the gold. And for endurance events and wetter conditions, I go with the blue extreme. All of them are top quality and they all serve different purposes.

My favorite dry lube ever

I live in Utah where it is dry and dusty. Needless to say, this stuff fits and works great for dry conditions. The best part is, you won't need to clean your chain because this lube does not pick up dust.

    perfect for dusty conditions

    • Familiarity: I've used it several times

Was recommended to me for dusty trails and it does not disappoint. My whole bike accumulates dust but the chain stays pretty clean. I reapply after every ride or two, but I'd pretty much do that no matter what with really dusty trails

    Favorite lube for dry conditions

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

My go-to lube when it is particularly dry out. It won't last very long but it also prolongs chain life because dust and dirt barely stick to it. You'll run through maybe 1.5 bottles in a season if you are riding a fair amount but again, for dusty conditions, it keeps things cleaner than any other option.

    Ok, not great

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Honestly, the lube just doesn't last long enough. I've had to reapply the lube several times in a given week on occassion. Not a fan really. Otherwise solid.

    Good, but not great

This was a new product for me as I usually use a different type of chain wax but they were out of that product so i tried this. It does a good job of lubrication, but it is not truly a "dry" lube. I have to do more cleaning of my chain with this one than the other product I use, but it is a good back up.

    Easy Riding

This lube does a great job cleaning all the grime out of my chain. Decent lubing properties. I find I need to re-apply on my mountain bike every 50 miles or sometimes less. The ease and price of the lube makes re-applications less troublesome. Should help my chain last a good long time.

    This stuff is awesome!

I have over 2,500 miles on a SRAM PC-1091 chain. My Park Tool Chain Checker says it is at a bit less than 0.25% wear.

I use this lube year round, in New England. I wipe down my chain with a dry rag after every ride. I seldom ride in the rain, and clean my chain maybe every 500 miles with a Park Tool Chain Gang. I am very generous with soaking my chain when I do lube, spin it for a couple of minutes to let it work its way into all the crevices, and then pretty diligent in wiping it down. I've ridden 80 mile rides, and 200 mile weeks, on one lube.

I hope to see 4-5,000 miles on this chain, at this rate. I ascribe this anticipated longevity mostly to this lube, and to a lesser extent to keeping everything clean.

    Leaves the Chain Clean

    • Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The lube works well and leaves my drivetrain pretty clean. I had pretty good luck in dry and slightly dusty conditions. I have read good things about gold and need to get a bottle.

    Least dust accumulation on chain

I've tried and still use all the rock n roll lubes. The red goes on very thin. I'm basing my 5 stars on the lubes description matching its performance. You want the lightest lube this is it. If your doing long miles on the road just know this will wear out after 50 or so miles. I tend to use blue in spring and fall and winter and pull out the gold for summer. Red for my shorter rides when dry. All rock n roll lubes work incredibly well. Never turns thick and black.

      Lubes well

Threw this on an old bike and it rolls better right away. Great product and perfect when used often.
