Ridley Helium SL Dura-Ace R9100/Ksyrium Elite Complete Road Bike - 2017 $6,300.00
Helium is a noble element, which is the purest, simplest form of matter this side of breaking down into sub-atomic particles. So it's appropriate that, for the Helium SL Complete Road Bike—built here with Dura-Ace R9100 and Ksyrium Elite wheels—we've opted for the noblest, most peloton-proven drivetrain and what may well be the ultimate set of training wheels. We think the end product speaks for itself: a climb-happy race bike that makes no compromises on punchier walls or while winding up for the finale.
As a noble element, Helium is light. Really light. And Ridley didn't forget that while designing the frameset that bears its name. The Helium SL frame and fork are an astonishing 1050 grams — that's around 170 grams lighter than most other big-name brands pro frames and 200 grams lighter than the regular Helium. This was achieved through a strategic lay-up of unidirectional 60, 40, and 30-ton high-modulus carbon fiber, whereas the standard Helium only uses 30 ton. The SL also incorporates a nano resin to improve the compatibility of the resin and carbon, which decreases weight and increases durability.
The first time we built a Helium SL, we found ourselves questioning the strange seatstays and seatposts that have become all the rage in bicycle "innovation." The Helium's seatstays, which are simple, slightly flattened tubes, combine with the traditional 27.2 seatpost for a compliant ride by devouring road noise and bumps like Helium's halogen cousins gobble up other molecules' electrons. It's far more comfortable a ride than its drive stiffness and low weight suggest.
We're also enamored with the Helium's thoughtful blend of internal and external cable routing. The brake cables, which undergo some contortions without getting down near the grime-collecting drivetrain to get where they're headed, are left out in the open for ease of installment and maintenance. The derailleur cables, which travel dangerously close to the drivetrain and are therefore more susceptible to collecting debris, are routed internally—but it's a straight shot. No tricky bends or silly, internal tube shapes that you have to guess at in order to get the cables through.

What's the difference between the Helium SL and the SLX?
Also, what it the tire clearance on this model?
Hi Pablo, on the slx The front end sees a slightly different curvature at the tube junctions to help increase stiffness. 25's work great, 28's push it a little and depend on wheel and tire brand. Feel free to hit me up with any other questions.
I am 172cm tall, and inseam 78cm, which size is suitable for me if i buy RIDLEY HELIUM SL DURA-ACE R9100/KSYRIUM ELITE; XS or S? Please advise.
An XS would be perfect for you. You may need a slightly longer stem but I can get that swapped out for you.
New model and 40% off. Why?
Great question. This is one of our in-house bike builds. We bought up the vast majority of Ridley's inventory of the 2017 Helium SL framesets and by buying so many we are then able to put together a phenomenal product package such as this and pass those savings onto our customers. I would be happy to field any other questions you have about this or any other product. Please reach out to me at:
