Considering the rolling terrain of Ridley's home territory of Flanders, Belgium, it's no surprise that the Fenix SLA Disc 105 Road Bike is the result of "all-around" development. Designed as a bike with a classic straight-tube appearance and a diamond-shaped main triangle, the Fenix SLA is destined to float across cols and steep bergs that beautifully speckle the countryside as well as maintain a stable ride-quality across rough terrain as cobbles, should you ever be fortunate enough to ride them.
Ridley merges the race-ready qualities of its climbing-focused Helium SLA with the stable and long endurance stamina of the Fenix A to breathe life into the Fenix SLA. The triple-butted aluminum frame provides trusted ride quality and durability over rough terrain and country backroads, and a smooth, lightweight feeling over fresh tarmac climbs. Out front, the Fenix SLA receives a straight carbon fork to increase front-end stiffness. A blend of 24T and 30T carbon fiber adds high-performance character and weight savings while improving compliance for longer endurance rides and races to punish the competition instead of being punished by the terrain. The Fenix lineup uses a longer wheelbase and longer chainstays to provide stability when the "good line" begins to vanish on patch roads and oddly cambered farm-road turns with pronounced tire grooves. However, Ridley is a racing bike company, and getting up on the pedals of the Fenix SLA is expected. You'll be rewarded with fast and agile accelerations that settle back into endurance tempo only when you are ready.
Ridley equips the versatile Fenix SLA with Shimano's 105 hydraulic disc brake groupset for enhancing brake modulation in mixed weather conditions and reliable consistency of stopping power. A compact crankset and the large 32 tooth cog on the 11-speed cassette help you power of steep rollers and keep the knees from creaking on longer alpine passes during the mountain-top pastry café quests of mid-summer. Internal routing from the headtube to the bottom bracket housing provides clean and efficient cable management to increase aerodynamics and styling.
