Why We Like The AR41 Carbon Disc Wheelset

There's a good reason why you see so many mid-depth carbon wheels on the pro's bikes. Having a reduction in drag and that slight aero advantage helps out on the flats, in the sprints, and on any grade under say 6%. Dropping grams and improving stiffness also helps in the acceleration department and is advantageous when closing gaps or attacking the group. The main drawback with carbon wheels is usually cost but with Reynolds new AR lineup of wheels, you can enjoy some fast hoops that you can ride every day without costing a fortune. Give your bike an injection of speed and turn the screws on your next group ride with the AR41 Carbon Disc Wheelset from Reynolds.

One thing that’s immediately noticeable about these wheels in windy conditions is just how stable they are across a variety of Yaw angles. Crosswinds no longer blow you around like a sail and you can confidently ride the wheels regardless of the conditions. The other thing we really like about the wheels is its healthy internal width providing plenty of support for wider, lower pressure tubeless tires allowing you to enjoy the traction, lower rolling resistance, and comfort that's on tap.

Lacing these quality hoops up with sub-standard spokes to meh hubs would be a great disservice and Reynolds does the right thing with Sapim Sprint spokes and brass nipples to Reynolds' Allroad hubs. Centerlock disc compatibility ensures that the wheels work well in all conditions and Reynolds backs up this wheelset with a lifetime warranty.

  • Durable disc, carbon, tubeless wheels for everyday speed
  • Wide carbon rims support higher volume road tires
  • Centerlock rotor mounts provide confident stopping in all conditions
  • Refined rim profile improves stability in crosswinds
  • Reynolds backs them up with a lifetime warranty

Impressive Value

I've used it several times

I purchased two of these wheelsets, for myself and for my son. He lives in Chicago and I’m 1000 miles away, and he regularly has wheel and tire issues with the crap on those city roads. The selling point is the great warranty, so if he breaks a spoke now, Reynolds can repair it. Buying a wheelset is a major departure for me as I have been a wheelbuilder hobbyist for decades. Right now I am mostly riding an Ibis Hakka MX, which is a very adaptable multi-purpose bike. The bike accepts 650B and 700C wheels, and tires up to around 2 inches in width. I have built the wheels I most commonly use, some very stout 700C carbon tubular wheels with 32mm gravel tires glued on. I needed a regular road wheelset to fit into the mix of four dedicated wheelsets for this bike. When I looked at the price for this Reynolds wheelset, with a modern crosswind friendly rim design, Sapim Sprint spokes, brass nipples and a decent Centerlock hubset, I realized that I couldn’t buy comparable parts for the asking price. I’m not a huge fan of straight-pull spokes, but again, the Lifetime Warranty made it a no-brainer. I have about 500 miles on these wheels so far, which I setup 28mm clincher with latex tubes, as I wanted wheels appropriate for Ragbrai. I have found them to be terrific wheels. They are perfectly true and setup easily. Definitely appreciate the hooked rim design, and the 21mm -30mm width. I’m impressed with their performance in crosswinds, and their stability and predictability on fast mountain descents. I haven’t been blown around at all. Also, no flex as far as I can tell. The 24 spoke 2-cross layout stands up well, and the rim profile and weight make them a true multi-purpose road-to-cross wheelset. So, a great value at a price lower than comparable wheelsets, with a warranty to back things up. If I have problems I will update my review, but I am thinking that these wheels are a very good find.

Great wheels!

I've used it several times

I’m just an everyday rider, I go on big 60-100 mile rides 2/3 times a week, I’ve had these wheels on my canyon ultimate and it’s been a great experience, good price, light feels awesome. Def recommend for the average rider on a budget
