Why We Like The Fillmore Valves

We think of our Presta valve as a constant. The fact is that it has gone unchanged for nearly a century. But, since we've embarked on a new age of modern tubeless technology, we have started to question if it's truly our best option. That's where Reserve's new Fillmore Valves come into play. There's no fussy valve core to cause issues, and it has three times the flow of a standard Presta valve. The key here is high flow, and no clogging. With Reserve's patented poppet-style design and simple adjustability, this valve is practically impossible to clog. Plus, it doesn't have a core to bend in case of a crash. For a tiny component, the Fillmore Valve receives top-quality treatment.

  • Reserves new valve represents simplicity and innovation
  • Three times standard Presta airflow for ease of tubeless set-up
  • Poppet-style design shields air hole from contact with sealant
  • Able to inject sealant without the removal of a valve core
  • Micro-air adjustment feature for trail-side pressure changes

These things are excellent

Familiarity:
I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
Fit:
True to size

Just installed my first Filmore Valve on a wheel, and I have to say I'm very impressed. Easy to fill with sealant, quick to inflate, no valve-core to get plugged. Now, all they need to do is find a way to lower the price so that it was a little closer to the price of your typical tubeless stem, and they need to make a longer version. With these two changes, these would easily be the perfect tubeless valve stem

Before getting set up with these, the presta valves that where on my wheels were clogged up really badly. So pumping up my tires and letting air out to get the right air pressure was a literal nightmare. Most everyone has run into that issue at least once before with presta valves. But before getting these Fillmore valves I was a little skeptical, the idea is cool, but it’s still super new. Plus $50 for a set of valves, is it really worth it? But regardless, I was sick of getting clogged presta valves, so I thought I’d give it a try. The initial set up was super easy. Typically with having a stiff wheelset and tight tires I’ve had to take the valve core out of the valve and use an air compressor in order to get air through the valve fast enough for the bead to seat. But because air flow goes through so much faster with the Presta valves, the bead seated with no issues. When I just pump up the tires, air goes through with ease when comparing to Presta valves. Plus, with the Micro-Adjust system they have with these valves, it’s super easy to dial down the exact air pressure you want for your ride. Another thing I didn’t think about until I was on a ride the other day, have you ever had where your Presta valve core is sticking, and it just won’t quite close all the way? Well with the Fillmore Valve, you have the locking cap which is easy on and off! Really as an overall analysis, I’ve loved these valves. My only concern, is if they will be making longer valves in the future to expand the range of wheels that are compatible with these valves, because the Fillmore Valve is definitely the valve of the future!

Good but only work on low-profile rims

The design is an obvious improvement over Presta valves. But these valves only come in one size which is WAY too short for most rims. Why the company putting these out doesn’t make them in a longer size makes me question their competence.

Hello, Will these fit the raceface wheels that come on a Tallboy CR? Thank you!

Yep! I can confirm that these will fit those wheels.

Easier to pump

Nearly threw my shoulder out trying to install some new maxxis tires. Found these online and gave them a try. I recommend these to anyone having similar issues! I found that they were a lot easier to pump than the valve I replaced

Had just got Peaty's MK2 valves 4 weeks ago since i did not knew about these valves just yet. I have a set of Santa Cruz reserve 30 for the past 3 years now and everything has hold up the abuse except the valves. Tired of clogged valves, replacing cores and even taking spares on every ride. this is a total game changer. Just got mine last week and installed them . Just by filling the tire was a plus not to use any tubules flor pumps or struggling to seat the bead on the rim . Needles to say that when I removed the practical new valves (the Peaty's for storage one was starting to clog. So I cleaned them up and gave them to my riding buddy with all the new cores i also got and varied on my rides. Very happy with these Fillmore valves and already rode with them . Great job

I’ve had my issues with the Presta valves over the last 20 years. A couple floor pumps later and my life was changed forever!

Was curious to see what all they hype was about. After using, I'm fairly certain these are going to be the new standard in tubeless. I wont be going back. These are great!

only for shallow rims

Fit:
Runs small

These are listed as 50mm but what the description doesn't say is that they are for 18mm-28mm rims. I ordered these for my 32mm rims and they won't work.

Hardly a reason to rate them down. Knowing what size valve stems to get is pretty basic.

They should tell you how long the thread length is. Reserve has a good compatibility page on their website but in general the way tubeless valves are measured isn't really helpful since it's all about making sure you can get enough thread through the rim, not just the valve. If you look at Muc-Off valves in comparison it's easy to see the difference

Do these valves use standard presto valve cores, if not where can I buy spares

Hi Anthony, Thank you for taking the time to ask about the Fillmore Valves we recently got in stock on the website. With these, there is not a removable core so you would not need any for replacements. These essentially should avoid the common issues and main reasons that you would need to replace the cores.

Can you use a standard presta gage to check air pressure?

Hi Thomas, Yes, you can! The Fillmore's internals are different than your standard presta valve, but the way that they connect to a pump or a pressure gauge remains the same.
