Description

Core defense.

One of the most underappreciated pieces of kit, the gilet, or vest, adds versatility to any kit and keeps the core warm with almost no added bulk and it takes up little space in your jersey pocket when it's not needed. Take the Men's Rapha Pro Team Insulated Gilet for instance. It uses Polartec Alpha insulation for incredible warmth that makes for an ideal outer layer during rides with variable conditions and venturing out on cool starts as well as extended time off the bike. It's also highly breathable, hydrophobic, and quick drying and doesn't hold onto moisture like other insulations do, so you can leave it on for longer. The front is DWR-coated and windproof for extra comfort while the stretch fabric on the back ensures a great fit and excellent ventilation of body heat. Also on the back are three pockets for storing food, extra gear, and flat fixing material and a tail that extends past where your jersey sits protecting you from wheel spray.

Other favorite features include the double-ended Vislon zipper with locking pull to better keep it in place when partially zipped. Having the ability to open up the vest from the top or the bottom allows for easy access to jersey pockets and the ability to vent as needed. Headphone sockets in the rear pocket and loops inside let you take music or podcasts along for the ride and we really like the subtle look of the jersey with the small and reflective Rapha logos. The Pro Team Insulated Gilet comes in Light Blue, Rich Burgundy, and Dark Navy. Sizes run from Small to XX-Large.

Perfect for the days that start out at 40°f and are going to warm up. Also love how this vest packs small into a jersey pocket, makes for a great emergency layer should you need to stay warm while patching a flat or waiting for your group to show up.

This is a great vest. The front is fleece insulated while the back is relatively breathable and non-insulated. It's small enough to pack into a jersey pocket. As we move into the fall I find myself carrying this on any ride that is towards the evening hours. It's easy to take and makes sure I arrive home warm. I fall between a M and L. Ended up finding the L fits best.
