First off let me premise this by saying that I've been an avid road cyclist for over 40 years and I've become very comfortable with Assos and Giordana. The quality of their products is undisputed and they've proven that they can take a beating. I thought I'd give this Rapha jersey a shot because it looked different and it is. My initial impression right out of the box is that the color is not what I'd expected. I was looking forward to what I thought would be a merlot/washed purple. Instead it is a dark charcoal gray but the graphics are consistent with what's posted online. The interior color of the elastic waist band is not white as pictured, it is black. The waist band is 1 3/4" wide with perforated silicon dots to keep it in place. The sleeves have an elastic cuff that measures 1 3/4" wide. I'm wondering if the increased width is to reduce pressure points on the biceps/stomach area and to reduce fabric creep? The jersey is shorter than average and because of its length the back pockets are less functional because you have to reach higher mid back to gain access. I'm use to the jersey's zipper teeth being small. These are much larger but the jersey fabric encloses the zipper teeth so this isn't a factor. Lastly, I live in Florida and the heat and humidity determine what I wear. In my opinion this jersey is more suitable for temps between 65 and 78 degrees F. It is definitely form fitting and every extra pound you carry will be on display. I ordered a medium and it fits perfectly across the chest but is a little tight across the waist but it isn't a deal breaker. It's like a second skin. All in all, the jersey will take getting accustomed to. Personally, I think it is best suited for fast solo rides where aerodynamics are the chief concern.
