Description

Brevet Gilet Vest with Pockets

When you're embarking on all-day missions that start with a layer of frosty dew, and wrap up with cool evening breezes, we recommend tossing on a lightweight layer that takes the sting out of the cold, like Rapha's Brivet Gilet Vest with Pockets. This featherweight layer shields you from the wind and showers, and can be paired with any piece underneath from a lightweight summer jersey to insulated winter jacket. It features wind-blocking fabric at the chest, with carefully positioned mesh panels across the shoulders to help with temperature regulation. In the back, three deep pockets offer a spot to store your essentials, and the center pocket expands to allow you to store the vest, or extra clothing, when you need to bring extra options on a long-distance ride. One of the biggest highlights of Rapha's Brivet line is its bold, reflective stripes, and this gilet is no different. It features two large stripes that wrap around your chest and back and illuminate under headlights, helping you stay seen on rides that start in the predawn, and wrap up after twilight.

  • A light vest for taking cold winds off of your core
  • Large reflective stripes elevate low light visibility
  • DWR treatment keeps rain and wheelspray rolling off
  • Regular fit is designed to pair with light jerseys and heavy jackets
  • Triple rear pockets with expanding center for extra storage
  • Two-way zip gives you easy access to jersey pockets
  • Breathable mesh on upper back lets sweat and heat escape

Worth it, if on sale, especially

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I have had 2 of these vests/gilets for a couple of years. I wear them a lot. Spring or fall biking; also shoulder season running, or, just wore one the other day on a very mild (40s, damp) long winter run with a thin base layer. They breathe great. Fit great. Great colors and style (the zipper slightly off to the side is pretty cool). They are long enough. My only area for improvement is the armpit holes are pretty tight. There's elastic there but they're nonetheless pretty tight. Tight when biking b/c your arms are stretched forward and need a little more "give." Tight when running b/c you're swinging your arms a bit. But I guess those keep the wind out! My overall humble advice is: if you find Rapha on sale (or can swing it full-price), get it. Super high quality and functionality. (I have a merino jacket, 2 gilets, a merino gaiter, and am considering a Souplesse jacket.)
