I had a pair of sleeve-type kneepads with cloth covers that completely blew apart in a crash and left my knee all beat up. So, I got these since they have a harder cover that should slide across the ground instead of pulling down like the ones that failed. They're pretty burly pads, and not quite as comfortable as the sleeve/leg warmer type, but I love that I can put them on and take them off without taking my shoes off. They're definitely more confidence inspiring than the sleeve kind. They run slightly small, normally I'm a medium knee pad and these mediums are just slightly small (but they velcro closed so they work just fine).
