Next R Crank Arms

We love Race Face's rugged and DH-worthy SixC cranks on our big bikes for no-nonsense performance, as well as the ultra-lightweight and stiff Next SL crank on our XC whips. Sometimes it leaves us wondering, what cranks to put on our trail bike and if we have to make a compromise. Wonder no more. The Next R Crank Arms are designed for epic days out on the mountain where climbing is ever present and weight is important, yet hardy enough to ensure it can handle drops and jumps so you aren't stranded on the mountain. Handmade in Canada and constructed from unidirectional carbon fiber, the arms feature the downhill-rated SixC G2 pedal inserts preventing blown out threads and stripping. A 7075 alloy spindle keeps the package trim and transmits every watt through the drivetrain. Cinch technology enables tons of ring option and compatibility. Available in in 170 and 175mm options.

  • Lightweight carbon crank built for enduro abuse
  • Cinch platform offers tons of versatility
  • No compromise crank for climb heavy days and durability
  • 170 and 175mm options
  • Chainring and bottom bracket sold separately

I’ve had next cranks for years because I keep getting them warrantied. If you sickly ride just down hill they might last more than a year but if you do any kind of climbing they will come un bonded from the aluminum and you will have floppy crank arms and some sore knees. I can’t believe they haven’t figured it out yet.

Another anecdote. I am 5' 11"and for most of the time I have had my Next SL cranks (4 years) I weighed 200 lbs. In those years I rode about 11,900 miles in the Santa Cruz mountains, no shuttles. The cranks are as solid as the day I bought them. My main suggestion though is to get a compatible third party preload adjuster ring (such as sold by Cane Creek). The plastic Raceface part is just not durable and I stripped many before buying the (vastly) better part.

Is this crankset compatible with shimano xt 12 spd drive train? What BB and chain rings will run w/ Shimano/2020 Ibis Ripley? Thanks, tOm

This will work with Shimano 12 spd, as long as you get the right chainrings. They are great cranks, would recommend.

I'm assuming this is sram DUB 12 speed compatible? Please confirm. Thanks.

Hey Greg, This crankset is compatible with SRAM Eagle but these cranks require a 30mm bottom bracket. A DUB Bottom Bracket will not work with these cranks. Let me us know if you need help finding the correct bottom bracket for your bike.

I've used it several times

Super lightweight. Really love this thing. I've always been a big fan of Race Face and this isn't an exception. Super durable and easy to set up. Dig it!
