Plant your feet and go.

Having a place to put your feet is a pretty non-negotiable part of cycling, but, you don't want to spend your post-ride refreshment budget (and part of next month's rent) on flashy pedals, either. Race Face's Chester Pedals don't have the shiny aluminum construction of some of their pricier counterparts, but they also won't empty your wallet, and Race Face carefully constructs their nylon composite body to make it just as grippy and responsive as aluminum versions.

Using eight replaceable steel hex traction pins on each side of the pedals, Race Face gives the rubber soles of your shoes a place to hang on when you're blasting through destructive territory. It also fully seals the bearing and bushing system while a durable Cro-Mo steel axle keeps the pedal working smoothly for as long as possible. If it eventually does need some work, Race Face makes the system completely serviceable too, so you won't be forced to replace a perfectly good pedal because of a bushing or bearing problem.

  • Composite pedals for grip that doesn't break the bank
  • Nylon composite body is stiff, durable, and reliable
  • Eight replaceable steel pins on each side boost grip
  • Fully-sealed bearings for smooth-rolling pedal strokes
  • Durability stays a priority with Cro-Mo steel axles
  • Serviceable construction keeps pedals going for years

Best bang for your buck

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

A dope cost friendly pedal that has a wide selection of colors. Since the pedal is composite, when you scratch the pedal you won't have any silver streaks or discoloring come through.. All in all a solid pedal.

These pedals are wicked rad! Nice slim design but looks like it will hold up to anything. The steel pins are a bit terrifying to look at but they really hold in your feet. Plus sweet color ways, these pedals are the bees knees.

Sweet Pedals!

An inexpensive but burly pair of flat pedals! These things are super grippy and come in a variety of colors to match your bike!

Best value pedals

What more can you say about race face pedals? They are budget-friendly, bulletproof, and come in all the colors needed to match your bike or stand out. I'll probably be a customer for life.

Pedals work well and have good grip. Have been using for 3 months now.

Best pedal for your buck

Replaceable studs and a solid pedal, what more can you ask for. Love the variety of colors and can easily customize to your bike. I'm a fan.

Good pedals despite odd factor...

The first thing I noticed is that the middle part of the pedal is slightly higher than either the front or the back of the pedal. I'm not sure if they were designed that way on purpose or if it is a design flaw, but on first use it was very noticeable. That said I adjusted to it quite quickly and haven't found it to be an issue. Overall I really like these pedals and would recommend them to others.

Replaced my stock mountain bike pedals with these bad boys and couldn't be more satisfied. Always feel locked-in to the pins regardless of shoe type. Don't try barefoot

Basic and bomber

The Race Face Chester Pedals are an excellent all around mountain bike flat paddle that is friendly on bank account. It provides great grip and the burly construction makes it durable through lots of abuse.

Maybe not the right choice if you're chasing every gram, but if you're main goal is to reliably pedal your bike, then you won't go wrong.

    Just what the doctor ordered.

Great pedals, much better than the ones I put on my bike for burning man. Can’t really ask for much more from a flat petal. Good grip time to rip.

    Happy wallet, happy rider

    • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Let me say this upfront: for ~50 bucks, these pedals rule.

Things I love: great color options, pins that are easy to replace, GRIP - I ride wide with 5.10s, was borrowing a friend's Specialized Bennies (MSRP $80, 12 pins) all summer, and I do not notice a difference in grip with the 8 pin Chesters. My feet stay secure.

Things I've noticed: my feet get fatigued on long descents. A bigger platform with a bit more concave shape might help this. But, dang, the price is just so good...I think I can live with it. But this does keep it from a 5-star rating.

Things to determine: Durability. According to other reviews, they really hold up, but I've only had them out on 3 rides so far. They certainly seem like quality, especially for the price.

Bottomline: I don't think you'll find a better budget flat pedal with the stellar reputation of Chesters. I am stoked.

I bought my first downhill bike this year and these are the pedals I went with. I am very impressed. They are very grippy, light weight, and big enough for my foot. The best value pedals out there, and the color options are so dope!
