Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I try to leave my merino socks from other companies out of the dryer, but if I forget it doesn't matter, with these they will shrink to a very small size, then rip if you try to put them on. I only buy merino wool socks because I think synthetics feel horrible and I have socks I love from Darn Tough, Giro, Pearl Izumi and Chromag, I suggest getting those unless you do not have a dryer at your house.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased a size large and it fits much like most size large shirts fit me (6'4" tall 195 lbs, 41" chest). The colors look great, but compared to my Troy Lee Skyline Jersey this feels like plastic, it just does not breathe well. I will only be wearing this on short rides, or on days that the temp is in the 60's, otherwise I feel very clammy.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought these for my wife, who wears a size xs in the Yeti Caddoa Shorts, she ended up fitting a size small in these. She says the liners are still really tight, but hopefully they will stretch enough to be comfortable.

The quality is good, which it should be for the price, my wife says they are comfortable and they don't look overly baggy or tight on her.

I bought this when it first came out in 2012, since then the geometry of the newer 29er All Mountain Bikes has become much better. The Tallboy LT Carbon still has a really steep-XC-ish headtube and seattube, the chainstays are much longer than most other All Mountain 29ers out now.

I wish I would have waited a year, I've recently test ridden the Yeti SB95C and The Specialized Enduro 29 Carbon, both bikes feel much more agile, especially on switch backs. I could never get behind my size Medium Tallboy LT Carbon to manual through bumps, and I definately can't get the bike into the air very easily, especially compared to the Specialized Enduro. I think it has a lot to do with the steeper headtube and shorter chainstays on that bike.

The Santa Cruz Tallboy LT needs some major improvements if they want to compete with the other All Mountain 29ers that have come out in the last year.

The only place the Tallboy LT shines is on really long rides, but I have to put in more air than necessary to keep the back end from bobbing constantly, even with the trail mode switched on.

To "cheaply" convert my current roof-top rack this is the best thing going, not terribly expensive considering it comes with the lock. I just ordered a second one.

This one is a lot easier to use than the typical fork ups where you have to hold the bike just right while putting the thru axle on, with this you already have the axle in place and just set the vice/clamp.

Remember to either remove the mount, or at the very least re-lock the clamp. I have lost both the 15mm adapter and the t-bolt because of my ineptitude! (thankfully I now have a track rack, which is worlds easier and allows my wife to mess with the bikes without me.)
