Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
I commute daily with a round trip of 40 miles here in the PNW. I got these to replace my other summer/fall sidi shoes and man I'm glad I did. In mild conditions 35 degrees upward my feet stay warm and dry below 35 my toes get cold, but considering my other shoe alternatives these are a great product. My feet stay dry and I've seen other reviews that challenge this and I suspect are overly critical on the product. I wonder if the water is not running down into the top of the boot instead of around the straps etc - if thats the case no foot wear I am aware of will stop that - not even my fly fishing boots. To date my feet have not gotten wet yet while wearing these and I have ridden through some junk weather down pours up pours etc. The shoe fits a little lose as I suspect they assume you'll be wearing think wool socks although I don't it's nice that it accommodates them if I do decide to do that. The soles are stiff very stiff - very awesome. If I needed a pair of these I wouldn't hesitate especially at the current price point. One last thing I'll say is that I've used Sidi products for over 20 years across cycling and motorcycling to include road racing. Sidi makes a great product and the shoes wear and last very well. In fact I've had shoes and boots, although they may not smell the greatest, last over 10 years.
