Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Used while travelling in Africa for a little over a month and I am Very glad I had the Cover. You can imagine how bad the sanitary conditions were in most places.
Both while hiking and just throwing the backpack in the back of our jeep, the cover kept the mouthpiece clean and protected from scratches. My friends wished they had it.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

Like others wrote, I also waited a long time to buy this kit and finally broke down when it went on sale. However, the kit is a must in order to keep the gear clean. One recommendation is to put the hydration pack in the freezer until the next use. This will ensure that everything stays free of fungi/bacteria until the next use.

You cannot go wrong with camelbak, they really do make the best hydration systems. Extremely durable, will not burst or leak even under a lot of pressure. The tube is long enough to reach your mouth even when using big backpacks. I recommend getting the cap to protect the valve. It gets dirty, it's kinda of annoying to buy extra stuff that should come with the bladder, but is is worth it. There is no after taste and it keeps fungi free for quite a long time. However, proper cleaning especially of the tube is recommended. I do not recommend using it in alpine hiking (cold temperature), more insulation is needed. The whole thing froze on me while climbing a glacier in Ecuador. I reached the summit without drinking any water!
