Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I bought these to replace my go-to Fi 13s that the paramedic cut off after I bounced and slid on a night group ride. He apologized, but I shed a small tear to see my favorites shorts snipped off (why couldn't I have been wearing my old Castellis!)
Aside from the excellent material, fit, and construction two things stand out for me with these shorts. First is the most excellent Chamois that is very thick and plush. Second is the Penthouse that eliminates any discomfort or necessary rearrangements.
Minor items that are, to me, kinda strange for Assos is that they cause my back to itch when I first put them on. There is a section on the top of the back where the straps join. At that junction the seams are itchy. I usually don't feel it after I work up a sweat, but I have never felt that before with Assos.
A second item is that the way the chamois is stitched on to the fabric causes the outside fabric to slide on the saddle a bit. I don't know whether this is an intended effect, and I don't dislike it, but it feels odd nonetheless.
I like these shorts and will keep them but wish the paramedic had not julienned my Fi 13's, and that Assos had not administered the coup de grace on the world finest shorts.
