Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I’ve only used this once so far. I live in Phoenix and needed something versatile. Colder mornings in the desert which are generally followed by pleasant temperatures in the 60’s to 70’s. According to my Garmin, the minimum temperature was 46 degrees and the max during this ride was 73. This jacket was great for the colder temperatures but I did get warm…..that’s when I pulled off the sleeves which made a huge difference. The sleeves are easy to remove and folded up nicely in the back pocket. Although I’ve only used this once so far I can see myself using this during the winter months and love the removal sleeves. This is more like a winter jersey with detachable sleeves vs. a jacket. You’ll be able to wear a compression style base layer for colder rides but that’s about it. I’d say the claim made by Castelli that this jacket is great for temperatures ranging from 43-64 degrees is pretty accurate. I think you’ll be a little warm in temperatures from the low 70’s and up. If you’re looking for something that is versatile and to use within the recommended temperatures you’d be hard pressed to find something better. One additional thought– the size. It runs small. I tried on a large which was too small. The XL worked great for me. Really excited about this and look forward to using it over the next couple of months.
