Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

So I purchased these wheels as part of a full bike package (Ridley Helium SLX). Basically, the wheels themselves are great. Hubs are awesome and the ust system is excatly as described.

However, the tires that come with the wheelset are garbage. Had a puncture that had sealant spraying everywhere and did not seal (just sprayed until there was no more sealant in the tire). Was not able to fix the tire so I had to pitch it. Thinking at this point.. Ok, maybe just a bad tire. Ordered another UST Tire from Bike Tires Direct (CC does not carry UST tires that I could see). Put the new tire on the wheel and same issue a couple of weeks later.. Same exact scenario, puncture, sealant spraying all over the place and not sealing the tire. So at this point I went to my local shop and bought a set of Maxxis Padrome tubeless.. Have not had an issue since. Think the tires are made by Hutchinson.. Do some research on them and you will find a lot of similar stories.

These wheels are real good now that I have some decent tires on.

Awesome - Get the bike!

Recently bought this frame and I have had a chance to get in several rides in and I wanted to give a review for this frame.

In short, this frame is just Awesome. It is stiff in the bottom bracket and the head tube which gives the bike awesome handling. I would characterize the bike as a race bike with some endurance nuances. What I mean by this is the frame has a taller headtube to give a bit of comfort if needed, but this is a straight up race bike. Power goes directly from the pedals and no effort is lost. Greipel sprints on this frame so it is stiff enough for us lesser folks :)

I chose to build this bike up with Mavic Cosmic Carbon pro wheels.. They are tubeless and coupled with this frame, the ride is pretty sublime. Before this bike I was running a 2014 Trek Domane with Mercury M5 wheels. I was running 105 / 110 on that bike.. This bike I run at 70 / 75 PSI.. You can imagine how this affects the ride quality... In a very good way!

Honestly, this bike is worth every penny of it's MRSP.. Even more so with the sale that CC is running. This is a pro tour frame people and the price point.. It simply cannot be beat.

Lastly, I want to give a shout out to my guy Kyle Brown. Top notch professional who was nothing but patient and helpful during my bike buying adventure. Basically I bought a full bike and the frame wound up not working.. Had the bike stripped at my LBS and sent the frame back. This frame was sent back via next day air so I could get it built up as quickly as possible. Cannot say enough about the great post sale support from Competitive Cyclist.

I am attaching a bike pic. Not the greatest pic in the world, but wanted give folks an idea of what the Grey looks like built up.

I am using Magnus primarily for Zwift and I find that it works very well. There have been some software updates since I bought it last year and it has been very smooth on Zwift. Power changes are even and smooth. I guess the best thing I can say about it is when I am on the bike indoors, I am fully concentrated on the ride.. Not the trainer :)

I also have not had any issues with the clutch screw or the power cord coming out. However, most of my rides are about an hour or so at a time.

Love these shoes. They made them slightly wider in the toe box area from when I bought a pair of Genius 6.6 several years ago. At the time I had to get mega because Sidi ran narrow. I can say that this shoe runs true to size and width. Love the techno 3 boa's very easy for micro adjustments on the bike with the push button. I had a pair of Lakes I bought from CC a couple years ago and they were great. However I found that the thing I missed most about Sidi was the heel retention system. Love it, keeps the foot locked in place.

I will say that the Sidi's do weight more than my Lakes (CX237), but it is not a huge deal to me. Others might be turned off by the weight.

Does this helmet have the same fit as the lazer o2? I like the shape of the lazer helmets but do not like the straps. Are the straps smaller / softer on the z1?

Originally got the large and had to return due to running too small. I am a 36 waist and they were tight. Got the XL and still have great compression. But not crazy tight like the Large. Chammy is good and the straps while a bit tight, were not bad once on.

Longest ride on these was 68 miles and they were very comfortable. These are not my go to bibs for longer rides and they rival the Pearl Izumi PRO's that I abolsutely love.

I would reccomend if you are looking for a good quality bib but do not want to pay Assos or Rapha prices.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

After going back and forth on shoes with CC for awhile (ordering and sending back). I finally setteled on the Lake CX 237 shoes and I am super glad I did! The quality of these shoes are evident you take them out of the box. The real leather with the BOA look very classy and to me they are more of a understated look. Putting them on I felt like I was slpping up foot into a slipper. Like they were made for me.. Very hard to describe... Just could not believe how well they fit right out of the box. To make things even better, they have a full carbon sole that will make the shoe preform they way it should. The Boa system is very easy and nice to use. Will be easy to adjust either for tight or loose while on the bike. I ordered a 46 (US size 12) and they were just a touch too small for me so I did return and order a 46.5 which fit perfectly.

My previous shoes are Sidi Genius 6.6 and these Lake shoes have every bit of the same quality as my old Sidi's... My Sidi's will still be my spring and fall shoe.

Lastly, I want to give a shout out to CC. This is a first class orginization that truly wants to keep thier customers happy. I bought a pair of Northwave's that were not in great shape when I recieved them. The leather was discolored (white) and there were marks and scratches on both shoes. I got in touch with Greg at CC and he helped me pick out these Lakes and discounted the price and offreed 2 day shipping! I got the first pair and they were just a touch too small. Contacted Greg again, ordred a 46.5 and Greg had them shipped out next day air. Just awesome customer service! I am a CC customer for life!
