Salt Lake City/Park City

Rich F's Bio

My story is not uncommon for those living in Salt Lake City. I moved here in 2006 to ski/go to school. I finished up the school thing, so now I just ski, hike, bike (road and mountain and bar), fly fish, backpack, surf when I can get away, and enjoy the mountains.

When I'm not outside, you can find me working in the Competitive Cyclist Retail Store at 2607 S. 3200 W., in Salt Lake City. Come on in and check it out! We have a full-service shop, Santa Cruz demo fleet and the best assortment of bikes around!

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I have a big head and these are just too narrow to be comfortable. I ended up giving them to my lady and she loves them! She has a much smaller head so the side panels sit appropriately. I do like the behind-the-ear arms though! They definitely work for keeping them in place!

Overall you can't go wrong with this helmet, especially for the value! I love that it's available in a number of subtle, monochromatic color options. I'm not into that fast looking, race-inspired color palette that you see on some helmets. That adjustability allows you to get a solid fit with little effort!

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

This thing is awesome for a handful of different uses. For my intended use as an outdoor shower for my camper rig, it's much too small in terms of volume. I knew that before buying it, but the reality of seeing 2 gallons is different than reading it.
That being said, it still gets 5 stars if you know what you're getting into.

I bought these primarily based on the price to replace a worn out pair. The chamois is sufficient and the general fit is reasonable. I'm usually a medium or 32 in most items, and the 32 was baggier than expecting. That being said, all of my expectations have been met so far. When riding I usually put any small thing (phone, chapstick, key) in my backpack so the lack of a zippered pocket isn't an issue.

I've used these for awhile now. I'm not super weight conscious, but for pedals I wanted a reasonably priced pedal that wasn't a brick and landed on these. After a couple years of use they're still working well. It's nice to have the option of taking them apart to add some life, but I don't suspect I'll have to do that anytime soon.

I got the smaller size for my 2007 Tacoma and it's been great. The blocks hold your frame so well that you don't even need to use the velcro in most instances. Even on bumpy Moab backroads we had 6 bikes all perfectly snug.

I've been using the original Yalta as my daily computer bag for the last 5 years, and it's still in great shape! The space is perfect and it has everything you need, and nothing you don't. For the 2.0, they fixed my only bit of feed - the opening size. Other than that it's about the same and construction appears to be the same. overall, a great laptop back or weekend travel pack.

For the price, you can't beat this bike. DB advertises it as a do anything, gravel, light trail, commuter, etc. bike While I wouldn't take it on anything much more than a gravel/fire road, I'll admit it feels plenty sturdy. My main use is commuting, and at $700 retail there's not reason to not add it to your quiver. I live in SLC where hills are plentiful, depending on where you live. Previously I was using a single speed which was usually fine, but there are times where I A) want a lower gear going up hill or B) want a higher gear for hauling ass when it's flat. The 1x9 configuration on this has the PERFECT range of gears for where I live. The more upright position is comfortable, the disc brakes are solid and so far all of my expectations have been met. The beefier wheels are way better than my traditional 25mm single speed wheels, making me a little more confident after a few drinks. Oh, I also love the option of being able to add panniers and fenders.

So far so good! Maybe it's just because it's new, but opening the lock with the key is much easier than previous locks i've owned. With some, it's a struggle to get the key in and the flat part is a pain to get off the U. this one works flawlessly.

By no means would I consider myself a good runner, nor would I list road running as one of my favorite things to do. That being said, I run a few times a week to stay in shape and keep my dog happy, usually no more than 4 or 5 miles at a time. Thus far, these shoes have met all of my requirements for a running shoe. Out of the box they were one of the best fitting running shoes I've worn in recent years. I have a medium width foot and they were great. If you have an especially wide foot they might be a tad narrow, but the mesh uppers aren't restrictive so i'm sure they'd break in and work just fine. I'm usually a size 8 in Vans, Nike, Clarks, but opted for a 9 in these. It's the perfect size for running (a little extra room in the toe area). If you're in between sizes at all, I would probably go up.
