Familiarity: I've used it several times

The basics: the cassette shifts nicely, like I expect from Shimano. The obvious trade-off from a 27 or 28 is the spread between various gears. The huge upside for my old arse is the lower end, climbing a 10% or whatever grade. Going from a 28 will likely only require adjusting the derailleur stop screw.

I pulled Dura Ace C24 clinchers off for the Mavics. I feel like the Mavics are quicker to accelerate & do feel like they are dragged down less by headwinds & cross-headwinds. Not many miles on them yet, so don't know about durability. They came with Swissstop yellow pads, which I didn't understand from the ad, so now have 2 sets. No big problem.
