Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I don't find the tighten/loosen adjuster too small as another reviewer did. This helmet is surprisingly cool and definitely efficient too. The built in lens is easy to remove while riding.

However, the built in lens also takes a little getting used to. On my first ride I had an itch on my nose and when I scratched it I pushed the lens off and it landed on the road behind me; had to pull a "u-ee" to pick it up;fFortunately I was riding solo and no damage was done. I've sinced learned my lesson.

Fits me nicely too (as Giros have in the past).

For me, yes. I'm another 20 year rider of the x2s and bought a second pair when I picked up another bike recently. They were a great idea 2 decades ago and the greatness of the design is still evident today. They require very little maintenance and , as the other reviewer indicated, you can rebuild them in 10 or 20 years when they need it.

They have a lot of free-moving float which allows your knee/ankle to find it's natural position. Some may want less freedom, or to have their position perhaps more "controlled", and there are plenty of options for them including the Zeros, Looks etc. But I absolutely love the free float and feel like I "can't go back".

I got so frustrated with the Mavic extenders which came with my deep dish wheels I figured I'd try these. They have threads at the top like a presta valve which allows the pump to grab it like it would a normal presta valve. Seems common sense, no? But most extender manufactures haven't seen the light, while these just work.
