Familiarity: I've used it several times

I purchased this helmet when it was on sale. My other helmets are getting old, the price was right and it looked good. My go-to helmet in the past had been a Specialized S Works Prevail II. I found this Oakley Aro3 to be much more comfortable than the Prevail II. I actually had to check to make sure that I had it on as I started yesterday’s ride. Airflow is very good. Not quite as good as the Specialized Prevail II but astronomically better than the Giro Air Attack Shield. My head is 7 ¼ and the large helmet had plenty of adjustment range so I can wear my sweatband at the same time.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I’m 5’10 & 170 pounds & I commute to the office ~ 30 miles round trip on a daily basis & I’m on track for 6k miles this year. I picked up two pairs of the large Sorpasso bib tights earlier this year (on sale) to supplement my winter riding gear in preparation for the cold weather. My comments below are based on eight rides.

1. The large fit me well. This is in line with other Castelli items I’ve purchased in the past.

2. I’ve worn these with both a Gabba2 & Transparente3 long sleeve jerseys in weather between 39 degrees and 45 degrees. I was comfortable for all of those rides and I think I’d be comfortable down to about ~30 degrees (maybe more with a warmer winter jacket).

3. The material is of good quality and I’ve found the pad to be properly placed. Just based on a few rides, I shouldn’t have any issue getting at least two seasons out of these (remember, I ride 5 days a week). The zippers made the full ride without moving.

I’m very happy with on sale purchase and would buy another.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I commute 30 miles a day regardless of the weather in the Washington DC area. These hot summer days can easily take it out of you when it’s humid and well into the 80’s in the morning and a humid 90+ in the afternoon. I’ve been mixing a bottle of this in the morning and drinking it after I get to the office to speed recovery for the afternoon ride. I find the lemons & limes flavor to be good – not too strong and it doesn’t bother my stomach when I’m on a longer ride. I also hate using anything other than water when I’m actually riding but I don’t have the same aversion to this product.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I’m a bike commuter putting in 5 days a week @ 30 miles a day so I tend to put more wear on kit faster than most. I’ve only worn these bib shorts once but have a few impressions to share.
1. I felt that this piece fit similarly to other similar Castelli bib shorts that I own. I'm 5'10" & 168 pounds. A large was the right size for me.
2. It is race fit and snug. I like the compression. The straps are adequately wide and there is no discomfort.
3. Because of the race fit, the pad doesn’t move at all. I’d also note that the pad was very good and, based on the first 30 miles, I could easily see myself wearing this for a long day of riding.
4. Finally, I really didn’t notice the bibs at all during the 30 mile commute. I’d suggest that’s a good sign – it’s pretty easy to tell if your bib shorts are a lemon.

1. Yes – I do agree, this is a small fit. I’m 5’10” and 168 pounds. Using the sizing, I ordered a large but it was tight enough that I couldn’t get the zipper to stay closed at the neck. I returned it for an XL which fits much better.
2. It is a race fit. I do feel like I’m trying to get into a weird yoga pose when I try to take it off. Patience is required since as you slide out of it like a snake shedding its skin. It does feel good on the bike.
3. I’m sure that dimpled surface that it adds at least 3MPH to my top speed.
4. The rear pockets extend further up the back than most of my jerseys. I don’t worry about anything falling out but it’s more difficult for me to get to those important items that I put back there

I have a long sleeve Gabba 2 jersey that I worked hard this winter as I commuted back and forth to the office. The long sleeved version was great for everything down to the low 30's (with a heavy base) to the low/mid 50's (without base). I did find, however, that those 55 degree afternoon rides were a bit too warm for me in the long sleeved version. This short sleeve Gabba 2 does a great job of blocking the wind and providing enough warmth to keep me warm without roasting me at the same time. Personally, I'd be confident in the short sleeved Gabba 2 from 45 - 65 in good weather. Rain would alter that equation.
