Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I have a 2016 Yeti 4.5. Was fine for about 500 miles until I got the installed RaceFace BB wet. After that event, I just couldn't get any Raceface replacement BBs to work -- went through 4 of them with each lasting about 75 miles before the creaking would return. Bought this Chris King BB with conversion kit #6 and the issue went away. It's been 1300 miles with no creaking. If I hear the BB getting a little crunchy, I just use the grease injection tool and am good for another 300-400 miles. If manufacturers are hell-bent on using PF BBs, I wish they'd just bake the cost of one of these into the price of the bike. It would head off so many PF issues at the pass.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

I went through several different pads and have settled on these. They turn even fierce falls into non-events; like falling on a featherbed. The fabric really amazes me how I can skid on my knees and it doesn't even tear or rip. As others have said, they sizing runs really small. I measured my leg using POC's dimensions and ordered a Large. When it arrived I could barely get it on my leg. Returned it for the XL, and while still snug, it's fine. Even on long, hot, summer rides, I like the compression feeling around my legs. It's like it helps me crank a little harder near the end of hard ride.
