Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer
This is my second pair of Louis in two years and these shoes do not disappoint. As a rider of this shoe's predecessor the Lite II's are a solid upgrade from an already impressive offering. The BOA system is more robust and the tongue comes in black for all colors since this tends to discolor quickly. The Xcomfort zone is nice but unless you have a very wide foot you may not notice much difference in fit. Maybe the best aspect is the orthotic inserts Garneau provides for different arch sizes. If you're like me and have arches in which a city bus can be parked under, the orthotic can evenly distribute load eliminating hot spots around the balls of your feet. Garneau provides three different sizes so you can dial it in just right. This puts a bit more pressure on the top of the foot but after a quick break in period and a "frayed" tongue edge these won't generate a "cut in" sensation at the bottom of the ankle which the older model tends to do. The shoe also has a well engineered heel retention system for exerted efforts out of the saddle. Size is very true as Garneau uses a different last where my older pair were maybe a little big at 43.5 but these in 41.5 are just right. The picture shows my older 43.5 up to my exchanged pair of 42.5 and they're identical with the older pair on the left. Aesthetically I prefer the older pair but that's just me. These shoes are extremely comfortable and perform well in all conditions wet or dry with the updated BOA system making for easy clean up after nasty outings. At this price point probably the best value on the market.
