Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Bought size M knowing that I might need to have the straps altered. No problem. It was rather funny. At 5'8" with a 30" inseam, the leg part fit perfectly. However, I could not even attempt to stand straight. From an old, "donor" set of bibs, I had 9" added to the Castelli straps. Yes, that is NINE inches of additional strap length. With the strap issue resolved, I could finally try on the bibs just to discover that the pad is set 2" too far back. Great butt coverage but my man parts are left rubbing against the flatlock stitching. To add insult to injury, the Castelli pad is 2" SHORTER than the LG Level 4 pad. That means I have 3" - 4" of man parts off the pad.... I guess these bibs are not for me afterall

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Will it last as long as a thick spandex? Probably not.
Is it the most comfortable bib I have used? Absolutely.
Plus, it has the best looking weave of any bibs.
I have bibs with all the Garneau chamois types... the 4Motion fits me best, even better than the 5Motion. Will no longer even buy anything below the 4Motion. I can do 100 mile rides with the 4Motion and still be fresh. Of course, just like your other expensive bike parts, all bibs and pads wear out. Don't ride these for 3 years and complain, they are a high performance part so be prepared to replace accordingly.
I'll buy again and again.
I machine wash on gentle cycle with unscented detergent and never- ever with a fabric softener in a lingerie bag and air dry.
I use two pair of these bibs two times a week and the pads are holding up better than a bib with 5Motion.
