Familiarity: I returned this product before using it
I've been buying Castelli products faithfully for over 5 years now. Having bit the bullet back then and ditched the Pearl Izumi's and Specialized brands - which I never felt offered the greatest comfort or feel for my 5' 9" climber's frame - I thought Castelli was like putting on a glove. Well some of those first shorts (Rosso Corsa Level Body Paint bib shorts) are finally showing signs of wear after a couple thousand miles (pretty darn good bang for the buck!). So I thought now would be a good time to invest in another pair of high end shorts but see what other brands have to offer that I might be missing. So I gave these Assos shorts a shot. As was mentioned in another users review the packaging is a lot over the top. Not big on wasting packaging that's just going straight back into recycling.
I ordered the medium size and it seemed to fit just fine except for the leg cuffs, which were doing some weird loose wavy/floppy thing. I've already initiated my return - Competitive cyclist and Backcountry are great to work with! - but was rather surprised at the looseness of the elastic. I certainly don't have big sprinter's thigh's but everything else seemed to fit fine. Perhaps ordering a size down would have fixed the problem but with the Medium straps fitting just fine, I didn't want to give the small's a try and feel as though I had someone pulling on my reigns. In the Castelli mediums everything fits nice and snug and supportive. I think I'm sticking with my brand knowing their cut fits me just fine.
