4 5

Familiarity: I returned this product before using it

I'm 5'9" 135 lbs. and in assos, giordana and gore (I've never purchased castelli bibs but have a couple of their jerseys) i've never needed anything bigger than a small so I bought a medium in these... they were close, but still too small. If there was a large in stock, I would be exchanging because they seem like a great weight and of excellent quality. As it is, I'm going to try the nano flex 2's in both a medium and a large to see which fits best.

Bulky for their warmth
2 5

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Bought these in Nov hoping they would cover me for rides in the mid 30s down to low 20s (with liners). They are ok to mid 20s and waterproofing is as advertised- I used on extended ride while wet snow/sleet was falling and they never took on water. However, they are bulkier than many gloves that are much warmer. I own a pair of sealskinz heated cycle gloves and although they are thicker, I retain much more dexterity than I have with these. I have never really had an issue finding the small shift lever on my STI's until using these. All that fiddling for the shifter must be too much for the materials because in looking at the tip of the index finger it is already starting to abrade. I thought I would like the zipper gauntlet but the excess material behind the zipper tends to get caught when zipping up. I can put one glove on pretty quickly but trying to zip up the second glove is very cumbersome with the limited dexterity these afford. The bonded liner is effective in the palm and fingers but doesn't extend to the thumb. Basically, these have all the downsides of a much heftier piece but without the warmth.
