KEITHwrote a review of Kask Protone Helmet on September 10, 2019
Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions
I didn't realize just how ill-fitting my old Giro Ionos helmet was until I upgraded it with the Kask Protone. Perhaps my head is shaped better for the Kask, but the fit and comfort is simply stellar. The Protone hugs my head perfectly and the ability to micro-adjust the fit is fabulous. I had not realized you could adjust the up-and-down positioning of the adjustment system to the correct contact point of the occipital bone - pretty slick. The soft leather-like chin strap is also a plus, as well as moving the buckle away from the traditional under-neck area. The padding is also extremely comfortable. Wind noise also seems to be reduced over my old Giro which aids in hearing upcoming traffic better. The Protone also seems to sit lower on the head which gives it a sense of more well-rounded protection, rather than a mushroom cap feeling.
The only negative is that the retention system interferes ever-so slightly with the tips of my Oakley RadarLock glasses. Not enough to make the helmet unusable, but a little adjusting is required to make everything work together.
I have a 59cm head, which is on the lower end of a Kask large, but with plenty of adjustment room, and I'll be able to wear a cap in colder conditions without issue.
