Jon's Passions

Given the goggle compatibility and the rear protection, would this helmet be a candidate for skiing or snow boarding? Yeah, I see the million vents, but curious to see if anyone has had the same thought. I usually wear a balaclava, special ops style, anyhow.

This is a pretty basic case. Appears to be durable and holds my phone charging cables, SDXC cards, blah blah blah for travel in my Dakine Baker back pack. Good deal for the price. I have 2.

Wolftooth Giant Cog Modification

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I purchased this cassette to support a Wolftooth Giant Cog (40t) conversion of my 1 x 10 drive train - works incredibly well all put together. Check out the Wolftooth web site for more information.

I opted for the Wolftooth 16t cog to replace the cassette 15 & 17 cogs and I think that was the right move.

So far so good (1 ride), but will check back later in the season.

Don't forget to buy a new chain if you're going to convert to the GC.

I bought this rack after a serious amount of research and I'm not totally disappointed. The thing is easy to assemble and operate, but not perfect. On the product I received, the bottom swing arm ratchet doesn't catch at the low end so I've been forced to push my 26" wheel forward to the 29" setting. This allows the bottom arm to move higher and catch, giving the adjustable screw a chance to grip the tire. Not sure what I would do if I rode a 29er other than return it as I don't think I can MacGyver a fix given the plastic construction.

This problem is most likely only an issue with the product I received, and not a design defect. For me, my next rack will be made by 1Up USA.
