Familiarity: I've used it several times
The Speedplay model does reduced the stack height causing me to lower my saddle height about 1/4" lower thus bringing me more into the bike utilizing the Speedplay Zero interface to it's optimum. I fully recommend going to the website and following the trace your foot and match up the size needed chart for acurracy. Heat and mold a couple times one shoe at a time until it feels right and then you will truly get what to paid for. Soft Kangaroo leather does not bind or bunch. It has a sturdy sole that fills in the void of heel movement after molding to get the whole feel experience. This will give you a stable ,balanced full force foot to pedal contact while sprinting and climbing both. Very reassuring.
Compared to my Sidi Genius 5's they are longer so I went down a half size to fill in the toe box. They work great with high arches.
If I were to focus on $$$ I might give them a 3 or 4, however there is not a way to put a monetary amount on the comfort level that which I have never experienced on a bike for the past 30 years.
