Familiarity: I've used it several times

To get a perspective for me as a rider. I am 6' 160lb. I usually ride a long travel 29er Kona Process and a Commencal Furious DH Bike. So I typically end up on a bike with 160mm+ of travel. So this bike was a little different for me, and it was awesome.

This was my first time riding a true plus bike with wide rims and wide tires. It took me a second to get my pressures dialed and ended up riding 24psi in the rear ad 22psi in the front. This worked well for the trail riding I was doing. I did notice hitting some jumps and hard corners that the tires started to give out a little bit being such a low pressure. But overall it provided great traction for climbing and in the tech.

CLIMBING: It has been a little while since I was on a mid travel 27.5 specific trail bike and this reminded me how awesome it is. It has great power transfer as most VPP Santa Cruz bikes do and I felt that the riding positing between the seat tube and angle and 66.5 degree angle this gave me perfect control in climbing. I took this for a 35 mile ride with all sorts of climbing and this felt great the whole time.

DESCENDING: Fun fun funn! This is where i was taken back to how fun 27.5" tires are on a trail bike. On the mellow flowy stuff it just wants to go fast and jib around the trail. It is ultra-responsive and is very confidence inspiring. The carbon rims add to this bike being extra snappy and controllable. When the going gets rough it still feels very controlled. I had a third gen SC Nomad and it reminded me of that. I did notice that is has a little less travel and therefor felt a little rough, but not out of control. Even when it got steep I still felt that this bike performed really well.

THE SPECS: This is an awesome build, I usually don't like carbon rims because I am really hard on them, but that being said it really makes an awesome addition to this bike. The X01 drive train is perfect, great smooth shifting and not necessarily over the top. The carbon SC bars are great. I think that the suspension on this bike is perfect and does not need anything nicer, the lock out on the DPX2 is great for climbing, even though this bike already climbs like a beatury. Things I may change, I would probably get the bars cut to 780mm, I have found that to be the sweet spot for bar width. I may opt for either a bigger rotor or more powerful break, that was just because I did some long descents and like a little extra bite. I would also probably put a Maxxiss Aggressor on the back after I wore through this for a little better cornering tracking.

OVERALL: This bike is awesome, if you want a fun fast extremely capable trail bike that is 27.5" you are going to be stoked on this. I thought I was done with 27.5, but now I want to own this bike. The build is good and not excessive, it is everything anyone will really ever need. I also have to say the purple cool looks really good and is a nice change of pace from regular colors. I even got a compliment about it on the trail. Overall, great bike and I had no complaints.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

I am 6' 165lb, so long legged and somewhat lanky. I currently ride a Kona Process 29 and a Commencal Furious DH bike. I normally ride a Large and sometimes and XL so I knew it would be a bit of an adventure taking out a size Medium. Thankfully the long reach on this bike made it a good decision.

CLIMBING: It took me a second to get this dialed for the uphill, the main issue was the stock seatpost was to short for my long legs. But once I got it adjusted it was not problem. This was my first time riding a Yeti with the Switch Infinity link system and I must say, it lived up to the hype. Although it is still a long slack bike, it felt like my energy transfer to the wheels was awesome. Even my friend behind me was noticing this and the point that I am going to keep emphasizing, the amazing traction. Up dry loose and sideways roots, the rear end of the bike locked in and did not skid. It is still a big bike so at low speeds and very steep climbs you could still feel the front end being a bit light. For such a big bike this thing climbs very well, I have ridden my fair share of 160mm+ bikes and this may be the best yet.

DESCENDING: As you expected, this is where the bike shines. Before I say anything else, this bike has the best traction. With the Fox Float X2 and the Switch Infinity working together this bike sticks to whatever you tell it it. I was even on a fairly low tread tire similar to a Maxxis Ardent and it would still stick. Off camber roots, not problem, steep loose rut, no problem. I have never felt so planted. Other points of note are the super slack head angle, on the super steep stuff this is much appreciated. It takes a bit of speed to really make the front end come to life, but once you day it just wants to plow through everything. I even consciously would take bad, chundery lines just to test it and it wasn't even fazed. This bike is made to go fast and stay on line in any situation and it does it very well.

COMPONENTS: There where a few points of note here, one is the Fox Float X2 shock. This was a very good call on Yeti's part. This high volume air can really helps with the traction and makes the top end of the shock feel super smooth. The ramp up is appreciated and as you get more into the travel it reminds me of the DHX2 coil, that I am a huge fan off. If I was to ride it more I would probably put a volume spacer in, but even without it felt great.

The next point of not is the frame itself. The Yeti Turq carbon is awesome, very stiff, but mostly so light. This bike for being such a flow is one of the lightest long travel 29er bikes I have touched. This is noticed in the climbs and trying to move it around in technical situations. This spec in particular that has the carbon bars and carbon cranks is truly such a light bike.

PROS:
-Fast, stable at high speeds, likes to go fast, mainly fast.
-Lightweight
-Good spec, everything you need and want for this build.
-TRACTION

CONS:
-Not the most playful bike, more suited for going fast and less jibbing.
-Long front end, when it gets steep climbing you can tell.

OVERALL: I think this is amazing bike and Yeti did a really good job. This is an Enduro race bike that likes to go fast down whatever you throw at it while maintaining the ability to have an efficient climb on the way up. It is expensive, but you get what you are paying for. After riding the SB150, it will probably be my next bike.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

Stock cap that keeps liquid in very well. My only complaint is that it is breakable. I have 2 mugs and had to get replacements for them very quick. If you drop these on to a hard surface the snap top will most likely break.
