Grant Kates's Bio

I was raised in Rochester, NY and moved to Salt Lake City, UT when I was 21. Since moving here I have been on a non-stop roller coaster of outdoor activities. Including but not restricted to: skiing, climbing, hiking, camping, etc. I love being outdoors and that is where my passion is, any new experience that comes my way I tend to say yes. Life is full of opportunity, you just have to say yes.

Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

One of my customers, Dan, sent me this input on the helmet so that you may get a first hand opinion he gave me permission to post it. Thank you, Dan!

"I used the Bell Super 2R MIPS helmet yesterday to ride Falls Creek Washington. It was very comfortable, and the chin-bar is easily attached/detached quickly and securely. There are some scary possibilities on that particular trail to end up over the handlebars, so the added safety features, combined with comfort of this product were great.

Three adaptations that new users will need to address with the addition of using a chin-bar.
1. Be careful how you choose to spit that errant bug out as you are bombing downhill….the bug and the saliva may end up on the inside of the chin-bar if your projection angle is not just right .
2. No more of those on-the-fly nose blowing procedures that runners and bikers use to clear their airways to improve oxygen/air flow .
3. How the heck do you manage your hydration tube without totally distracting yourself from paying attention to the next root/rock/drop while desperately trying to moisten your parched throat? I am still working that one out!

Overall, love the product…..love the service…..love the company,"

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

With the amount that I sweat I really need to stay hydrated. With such a high metabolism it seems like the biggest challenge to keep up with my friends on the skin track is hydration.

This mix ensures that i have everything in me necessary to complete the day's objectives.

I bought this because my ABS pack does not have a hydration bladder sleeve/port. The 1L option with the handle is the size I went with. It is the perfect amount of water to bring on a day tour - not too much, not too little water.

So far I am loving it.

These are killer shoes. They look as good as they feel on the foot. The suede upper I still have to treat but lets face it these 'dirtbag' shoes are destined to get dirrrrrrty!

My foot runs a 8.5-9.0 I bought the 8.5 and they fit great!

After a month of fumbling around and getting used to clipping in - I am finally fully converted and love these pedals. I paired mine with Shimano SH-RT82 Shoes (SHI0418). On my Scott Sub 30 commuter bike they are perfect for riding to work or downtown!

Shimano does the cheap SPD shoe thing really well!

I am impressed with these even at their low price point. I do have one gripe - my ankle bone is getting pinched on both sides. I might have to cut out some of the rigid material from the edge.
