Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This was my first experience with Stans Tape / Sealant.
I had great luck on my 2013 Bontrager Mustang and son's 2017 Mustang rims.........but ran into some trouble on wifes 2017 Mustang rims off Superfly.
They seem to have "lubed" the tires on which seemed clear when they easily "slipped off" in comparison to the other tires I was changing out.
However, the wheel being absolutely smooth and perfect along with this mystery lube made it virtually impossible to get the Stans tape to stick.
~I used the clean it with alcohol method 1st....no go.
~Tried tire/wheel cleaner for my car which I wouldn't even put on my chain/cassette 2nd.....no go.
Then some old Fantastic before sanding the inside of rim giving tape something to bond to before using alcohol once more. (hope rim doesn't corrode now)
Well, it kind of stuck.......So I held it down with major tension and made my way around the wheel exhausted....before going around a 2nd time just-in-case.
Added the Stan's sealant and we've been good after several rides now!!!
Why did I just drone on and on?!?!..............wanted people to know that while I would have posted reviews like the others that you see above after the 1st two sets of wheels I replaced........it was the 3rd set that gives me pause to find something that will both Clean/Etch the rim before I reapply tape to her rims again.
Therefore, don't wait till an hr before a planned ride to do this like I did!! But, being a "smart husband", I wanted to make sure nothing goes wrong on my wife's bike! ;-) fingers crossed.
Hey "Stan,"..........Perhaps you can get with these Bontrager folks and come up with a rim cleaner ;-)
Thus, I'd give the product 5 stars for 2 out of the 3 rims I set up that day...........but need to bring attention to folks running the new 2017 Mustang wheels.

Familiarity: I've used it several times

After pouring over reviews for weeks..... Just outfitted wife's 2017 Trek Superfly 6 18.5" frame &
my 2013 Trek X-Caliber 19" frame with the 29x2.3 Maxxis Aggressor tires.....Front & Back!
As well as son's Trek X-Cal 9 in the 27.5 model front & back.(review made for that tire size with same attributes below)
We all love these tires for many reasons.
I got back into MTB a few yrs ago after "leaving the sport" in the mid 1990's. Last saw a Dart upfront/smoke in the rear.
Liked the confidence the front gave me, back in the day.
However, I didn't want to go to big/heavy and was afraid if a 2.4 would fit / sling mud on the bikes.
So I looked at reviews and went with the Aggressors which fit and slung mud wonderfully!!!(There is enough room on these frames to happily allow these tires to move freely while "gummed-up".........which all tires will do at some-point when at very slow speeds) Once up to speed, they shed it fine. I haven't ridden tires "Made-for-Mud", but these instill confidence in the muck and slippery white pine needles we get in the Hills of Connecticut during the wet Spring.
It was a great climbing tire in all conditions as well as hammering downhill through the corners! While I didn't drag a knee on a hard turn going into a professionally built berm...I certainly felt confident yet again as the tire transitioned on to the side nobs which have more than enough grip on an XC bike.
They also handled well on sand, leaves & singletrack dirt during a few rides I snuck in on "dry days".
The picture depicts some "micro-tread" on the carcass of the tire which was more evident once on the bike.........another perk!......giving me more traction even where I've never had it in the past.
Wife was also pleased that they weren't too "soft or slow to roll" on the pavement". Of course they weren't anything like the Stock fast-rolling Bontrager XR1. But then again, that tire was garbage on the trails where we ride. :-( no surprise.
All in all, very happy with the Tubeless setup we are running using Stan's tape/sealant on Stock Bontrager Mustang wheels.

Put this 27.5 on my son's 2017 Trek X-Cal 9 15.5 frame.
Stock xc tire were worthless in the North-West corner of CT during the spring.
Once, he saw the more aggressive tread pattern of the Aggressor you could see his confidence grow!
He likes the better braking and climbing the tire has on the wet white-pine needles as well as overall traction through the mud.
I'll follow up with a post on the 29" because I upgraded the whole family to Aggressors.....Happily !
