Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

I brought this jacket back in March but didn't get a chance to wear it until today...45 degree with 20mph wind gust. Man did the jacket did everything in the description! I wore a long sleeve jersey underneath the Senza jacket and it kept me warm the whole 42 mile ride. In fact, I was a bit warm as I started to sweat. I brought a size bigger(large) on the recommendation of the Backcountry staff. It was just right as it allowed room for my long sleeve jersey. It wasn't bulky as I thought it would be since it has a fleece lining. The pockets in the back have as much room as a jersey. Plus it has a side zipper pocket which is a bonus. This is a great investment.

LG Modesto is perfect jacket for cool(mid 30s to 50s) early morning spring/fall rides which transition to warmer temperature as morning progress to afternoon. It's comfortable when layered with long sleeve jersey even in windy condition. Louis Garneau's jersey and jacket runs big for me. I wear mostly medium but have to get a small for this jacket as well as a LG long sleeve jersey I purchased.

Familiarity: I've put it through the wringer

The POC Octal weight is almost un-noticeable compare to my old Giro. The only gripe I have is I have to go with a large instead of a medium which I normally take. The crown of the helmet is a bit less round compare to my head. Thus I had to get a large, which is a bit big, but can adjust firmly around my head with the click wheel in the back of the helmet. Wish POC made the orange color in the Raceday.
