Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

Let me start off by saying I really like Giro helmets. For skiing and cycling there fit and quality have been great and withstood the tests of time. The Switchblade is a bit of an odd ball for me, I like the concept but part of me thinks if you can just wear a regular fullface or an open face trail helmet. Getting the helmet over your ears is a very tight fit, unless you spread out the shell by pulling on the chin straps. In my opinion the chinbar is angled too far down exposing a large portion of my face. If I were to take a bad digger I fell like the chin bar would not protect my face and simply deflect out of the way. Adjustment on the back of the helmet works pretty well to tighten/loosen the padding. I think for some select riders this helmet is a great option especially if you want to have just one helmet in the quiver to go along with your one AM bike. If you are a rider who has a quiver of trail bikes, AM, DH and DJ i'd say just get a dedicated trail helmet and a dedicated fullface.

Used once so far to tune the cx bike. Least expensive on the site. You will need an Allen to break it down all the way but if you have a bike chances you have Allen wrenches. Stable enough for me. If you plan on wrenching professionally I can see how the spring loaded pin at base might give out

Whether its running or cycling I'm a fan of Pearl Izumi products. Not always the least expensive, quality and fit are usually among the best. They nailed the colors, just the right amount of flair and safety without going over the top. I would agree that fitment is off. 6' 190ish lbs wearing the XL, the torso length is too short and the sleeves are too long. As someone who has long arms it doesn't make much sense to me, quite a bit of fabric bunched up.
