The thin softshell fabric of the airshed is ideal for cooler whether running and hiking. It breathes well when you are pushing the pace but still feels warm when you're not. I recently wore this jacket up Mt Elbert in Colorado where temps were in the low 40s up top and was very comfortable, even with 30 mph winds above 14,000 ft. Fitting into its own pocket to about the size of an orange makes this really convenient to carry in a pack or a pocket. Although thin, this material still seems very durable and I know it will hold up. The fit is a little on the bigger side, so maybe try a size down from normal or the same size to layer under a little more.
