Description

It's too pretty to be stranded

The Portland Design Works Shiny Object CO2 Inflator is constructed from the ever-durable aluminum alloy. And considering that it's smaller in stature than a CO2 cartridge, there's no reason to be stranded with a flat -- that is, unless you forgot a tube. Hey, things happen. But the Shiny Object's clever design makes it something that we carry almost solely to show off after situations of duress. The Object threads onto 16g CO2 cartridges, and it features a control knob to regulate CO2 output. The operation is a breeze. Simply, turn the knob clockwise to close the valve, thread on your CO2, and then turn the knob counter-clockwise to inflate your tube. The inflator is compatible with both Presta and Schrader. We know that you'll be glad to have it around.

The Portland Design Works Shiny Object CO2 Inflator is available in one size and one color. It's compatible with 16g threaded CO2 cartridges and both Presta and Schrader valve types.

  • Airflow regulation knob
  • Threads to 16g CO2 cartridges
  • Compatible with Presta and Schrader valves

    A little different

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

This inflator is a little different , the part that fits over the valve stem is very tight and will snap the valve core off it pulled at a angle , the inflator get very cold as does the co2 so if you aren’t using a co2 sleeve or gloves use caution . It works well but is a bit heavier . I would buy again if it’s on sale .

The description only mentions 16g cartridges. I have 29" tires so I am assuming I should use 20g cartridges. Is there any reason not to use this with 20g?

    I get the hype

I saw the outstanding reviews on this and had to give it a try. Turns out they were warranted. It seems like a CO2 inflator has finally been perfected. Easy to put on a valve stem and just as easy to control the flow. Couldn't ask for much else.

    reliable!

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

I've used this a few times and I love it that I can control how fast the CO2 cartridge inflates the tube. It seems durable and I would buy another one if I lost this one.

    The BEST

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

For such a small item, this thing really is the best CO2 inflator out there. Very use to control flow and fits nearly everywhere. We sell out of them extremely quickly so get it while you can!

I stole my brothers old one

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

And yes, it still works perfectly. I'm convinced that because you can easily control the flow rate with these, re-seating the tubeless bead becomes far easier. Simple, lightweight, effective...ingenious.

    SOLID - just buy it

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I love this inflator. Just remember to keep the valve closed before and after you use it (I've wasted some cartridges after forgetting to close it before I used it). Mine even came with a cartridge cozy to keep you from getting frost bite. SOLID!

Thanks for the review Tyler! Super helpful to get this feedback out to the community.

    PERFECT Co2 inflator

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

I rarely give things 5 stars, but this thing deserves it. Very small, lightweight, and does EXACTLY what it needs to do and nothing more. Has a dial to control the flow of Co2 so if you muck up pressing the inflator on the valve you can just reset and try again. Super durable, I've had the same one for 3 years and it still works perfectly.

    Rolls Royce of CO2 inflators

No freezing hands. Dialed in flow knob. It does what they should all do. The Synchros levers are cool too.

why would you buy anything else?

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This product is perfection! It is light, small, easily fits in your underseat bag and works perfectly delivering the right amount of air needed. Not too much , not too little and not so fast and out of control that everything freezes. . I have owned many styles of these and there is no need to look further.

    So far so good

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

Its light-weight, effortless to work and the ability to adjust the flow of air is vital.

    compact and easy

    Familiarity:

I generally like pumps but this co2 is durable and easy to control and packable.

    Compact and easy to control

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

In addition to being very small / compact, I really love that you can control the flow of CO2 coming out of the Portland Designs Shiny Object inflater. And if you haven't used *all* of the CO2 in a cartridge, you can still stash it in your pocket while still attached to the cartridge in case you need to top off a slow leak later down the road.

    Easy to Use

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

Helpful to have some pressure control when trying to get back on the road or trail. Simple to use and no complains so far.

    Shiny, Useful and Neat.

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

I'm a new convert to the CO2 inflator game and I'm impressed. Keeping this little tool that's smaller than a lot of multi-tools and a couple of cartridges in my kit sure beats a pump. Plus, using those small handheld pumps puts a good amount of stress on the valve stem if you're not careful. No such issue with the Shiny Object.

    Superb Design

    Familiarity:
I've put it through the wringer

This has been the easiest to use C02 pump I've owned. Cheaper pumps sometimes "misfire" and you're left with a useless cartridge and a couple bucks flushed down the drain. With this pump, it's an easy thread in for the cartridge, with a smooth control release for pumping up your tires. Really an excellent design, well done and very well manufactured.

    Well Thought Out

    Familiarity:
    I've used it several times

Would much rather carry one of these instead of a pump. The Open/Close feature is also super easy to use.

You can never have too many inflators

I go through tons of inflators for some reason. They end up in my jersey, shorts, saddle bag, hydro pack, car and tool box. This one is the best one I've owned. It twists on and off so be sure to twist it off before you install the cartridge otherwise you may loose some valuable CO2.
