Good things come in small packages.

Usually, a situation where a pump is needed mid-ride isn't something to celebrate. But that doesn't mean you can't be a little excited for Portland Design Works' beautifully designed Little Silver Pump to save the day. At just 190mm long, it easily slides into a jersey pocket, and weighing only 85g, you'll barely notice it once it's there. Portland Design Works uses both forged and CNC-machined aluminum alloy to build a pump that's durable while remaining lightweight, and it offers plenty of leverage. Included with the pump is a three-piece, interchangeable assembly that makes the pump easily compatible with both Schrader and Presta valves. A well-appointed extra feature, the carved bamboo handle makes inflation a smooth and efficient process when you're using the pump with recommended high pressure, low volume tires.

Backup pump

  • Familiarity: I've used it once or twice and have initial impressions

This pump is very small and will fit tight places. The are very well made.

a little on the small side but well made

  • Familiarity: I've used it several times

I wanted something a bit bigger for winter training but this seems to work just fine and dandy. Pumps well and it's well made

My opinion: I look for a mini pump that fits well in my jersey pocket, and I only use it if my Co2 fails. Since it's my backup, I say the smaller/lighter the better.
